Today I ordered a new decoy.  The Expedite Triple Play. When it shows up next week I'll post a review of what I think and how well it works.

Here's a photo if you haven't seen one before;

triple play.png

It rotates about 90 degrees, then stops, which causes each separate decoy to wiggle/move back and forth, then rotes again. Gives the illusion of 3 crows feeding.

I searched the internet and it is sold all over the place. I ordered mine from Black Bear Sporting Goods out of Florida. I read many reviews on this place and about 95% of the people had great things to say about them.

The cost was $47, a little pricey, but with 3 full-bodied and flocked decoys, I figure those are worth $10 each. Who knows, time will tell.

After having a flocked decoy in the spread, you'll want to buy a flocking kit and do the rest.

The flocked decoys are far superior to un-flocked ones in my opinion.

Absolutely. It arrived yesterday, extremely easy to assemble. Takes less than one minute to remove from carrying bag, (came with the decoy, black draw-string bag) and have it set-up and running.

Very quiet while running, lots of movement. Looking forward to trying it.

Mine came yesterday... can't wait to try it. My feedback so far is be careful with the plastic parts -- they seem a little delicate, and try to keep the really nice flocked dekes bagged individually so you don't scratch the flocking trying to stuff them in the bag. I'll let you know what the crows think.

Took mine out today, actualy the second time out with it. Crows seem to tune in to the movement.  Couldn't get them interested in a feed set up this morning though. We wound up putting it away and switch up to a fight set up the rest of day.

For me the jury is still out........while it does get there attention, it didnt seem to draw them in like I had hoped. I will try it some more in diff set ups.

Hello fellas, havent posted in a while. I love my triple play. I bought it last year and put it in my spread every time. I have found that if I put it closer to the blind, no more than 10-20 yards, in the middle area of my decoys it works well. IMHO it seems to keep the birds coming all the way in for the kill. I put it on the outside of my spread before and it didn't seem to be as effective. Trail and error. Hope it works for you! Hunting a new spot tomorrow. I will try to get a season report from MD soon. Good luck all!

I have used the triple-play decoy on 4 hunts now. These 4 hunts have produced the 4 highest kill amounts for me ever. The crows come in closer than ever before, quicker and they are totally fixated on this decoy.

Best money I have spent on crow gear. We killed some without any calling what so ever. Just the decoy slowly turning.

A buddy I shoot with got this decoy and they work awesome! A tip though is to clear any taller grass and stuff away from the unit. THe first time out we had that going plus a couple of those flapper decoys from crow mart and bagged 75 crow in just under two hours!

I would think that would really draw crows in. Crows on the ground are always walking around like that. My only concern is how durable is it? I assume you take all 3 "arms" off everytime you move? Does it look like it can survive years of use - or at least is it repairable with some ingenuity?

As Shadart said, I really don't want more stuff to lug around but if it brings in more birds.....well.........that's ok!

Yes, I take the arms off. If careful and not rough with it, I beliee it will last a long time. I can "rig" anything if given the time. I think that if something breaks, it would be an easy fix.

As far as not wanting more gadgets to drag out there, ALL other decoys can rot in the shed for all I care. This one motion deke is far superior to a static one.

Thanks, since the arms do come off to make it more portable, this seems like an obvious plus for any crow hunter.

Yeah, if you get a good motion decoy, I can see it replacing many stationary ones so that you may even reduce your bag of "Stuff" to drag along. The comment somebody here made about using motion decoys in the middle of a setup vs. the edge sounds like a good idea too. I don't know for a fact that would make any difference but it just sounds right. An approaching crow sees a groupd of his own kind gathered, hears them calling, then as he gets closer, he sees individual birds in the bunch walking around - how can he resist a VERY close up look?? I may be buying one of these soon.

One other improvement I'd like to try for my decoys is to add a remote control wire to my wounded woodpecker converted crow so I can let him lay still until I shoot the 1st time, then start him flapping like he's wounded along with a wounded crow call. The only thing that has stopped me on that one is that I don't like dealing with wires hanging on the brush. I bought the wireless Johhny Stewart call a couple of years ago to replace my old Wired JS for that very reason. Do you more experienced crow hunters think that would make any difference? I get pretty good response to starting with a wounded crow and letting the flapping decoy run continously.......

Unfortunately crow season here in Tennessee ends Feb 28.

I think the best place for this motion decoy is about 15 yds out from the blind and off to one side slightly. Tons of crows that we have killed since I bought it come in from one side between the blind and and the motion deke, and they're staring at the decoy.

Having a crow 10 yards away, looking the other direction, flying slow.....POOF!biggrin

I might add a remote switch with about 50 feet of wire to turn this off and on. Although, it will run at least 8 hours on one set of 4- AA's.

They should make the motor in the middle look like a dead oppossum and then GAME ON.

I cover the motor with a piece of coyote hide with the hair on.

I have 2 of them. they store well in the little bag they come in. I use a fake feathered crow that goes in my Praire Blaster and the crows come in low and stupid.

I use rechargable batteries in mine and they last all day.

I have now had this decoy for over a year. The motor still works perfectly. Decoys themselves are holding up well, the flocking still looks great.

I don't regret buying it at all. My only complaint is that when it gets down below 15 degrees F, the batteries get too cold to power the motor. HOWEVER, this is the fault of the batteries, not the decoy's motor. (The same thing happens to my FoxPro caller.) I need to invest in some Lithium batteries for both devices.

I still recommend this decoy. Now, a year later, there are numerous places to buy them on the internet.

I've been using one about 18 months now (and a dove one too) and generally have it set up with a lot of static decoys, some floaters, some lofters, and a whirly too. Not sure if it works or not, sometimes it might just as well not be there, and other times its maybe drawing them on, but, o always set it out as everything helps a bit

I did have to make a repair on mine last year and made some other mods. Do not let it get hung up on any obstacles, corn stubble, etc., it may break internally. Also, the plastic pegs broke from frozen ground, so I made a plywood base that extends beyond the unit, and drilled three holes for the pegs and a hole on each end that I use to anchor to frozen ground with two large 10 inch nails.

I also made a wired remote with a 50' spool of speaker wire, and converted to a 9 volt battery that works better and longer in the cold, and I can disconnect the battery as an on-off switch from my blind. I like my Triple Play, but sometimes with my educated crows I think it scares them. The crows and flocking are great though -- very high quality decoys.

I appreciate solutions that involve tinkering and mods!thumbsup.gif

Will add that to mine when I purchase one someday.

Mojo crow can be found  on ebay but i don't like them. The wing motion is too unnatural unless you are a duck but too be fair, the crows were few and far between that day anyways...
