That is rather frightening. Wander what the pressure spike was as the shot column would pass by that little wad catcher? On the other hand, that is one way to get good separation.

Here are my thoughts, at one point I am scared of pressure getting under the threads and screwing my barrel up. Building another one, which really ain't that big of a deal. I just have to get a choked turned down. Or putting JB Weld on the threads and sticking it to the gun. The down side to the last is, I don't think anyone makes a case long enough to fit a 50" barrel .
Time to turn a choke.
But as always, when you build a new one , you must build it bigger and better. HMMM, the things that come to mind.
Instead of holes in the extension, what if I cut slits in the barrel ? So on the bottom of the barrel, you just cut a slit blade thick ,but 3/8" long . If the measurements are at 3,4,5,6,7,8,910,11,12,15,18,21 for the holes on the bottom. Take away the side holes and just run slits on the bottom of the barrel. A 3/8" slit , blade thick would measure about the same as 3 - 1/8" holes.
HMMM, wonder if it would still work the same. It would direct more of the gases downward to the ground.
