This here is a story told by my neighbor Gerry Sowers. He's a good ole boy and a kick in the pants to hunt with.

Gerry just underwent surgery the week before Christmas to try and do something about his Parkinson's Disease. Please say a prayer for him; they will be turning on the electrodes they implanted in his brain on January 15th. Thanks! jon

Jon, I just went back to find this thread and listen to it again. Some of my students enjoyed it too.

How is the health of your friend?

Excellent video and I certainly wish your friend well. The possom, or correctly, the opossum.. is a flat animal that lives on the highway.

10 years ago, the opossum was completely unheard of here in Maine. I was familiar with them from growing up trapping and hunting in Ohio. Well, about 8-10 years ago, I came home one night here in Maine to find a 'possum in my carport. I caught him by hand and tossed him in a dog crate. Many people the next day saw a live one for the first time ever.

Now, we see them dead all the time, flat on the road along a stretch of route 2 where they grow a couple hundred acres of sweet corn. Those 'possum might be ugly, but they know where to eat. biggrin

The deep brain stimulation has helped Gerry quite a bit, thanks for asking.

He has not been feeling well lately, and was not home this am when I stopped by. He probably went in for an adjustment.

He had an offer from a small law firm in Pittsboro, which is not far from here, to become a partner, so I am hoping that he is able to do that.

You won't come across a nicer guy. I'm honored to know him.

He gave me another story a couple of weeks ago to put up on our website, you might enjoy it. It's not as amusing as Lonesome Possum Ranch, but it is truer.

Kev:

The crows here like possom also--especially squished on the road (tenderized). Today we saw a pair of crows working on a groundhog in a similar condition--another sign of spring--squished groundhog. I guess this one didn't see the truck's shadow quick enough.smile

Jon: the possom story was fun!

Just got in from visiting with Gerry - he's feeling much better now, they have been adjusting his medications.

Not surprised. According to the weather guys, the NE is getting thumped by another snow storm. We've had lots of sun for a few days. Ours are not out in force yet, as there is no fresh grass. The one we saw might have been an insomniac--he's sleeping now.

Thanks Jon. Great Gary Larson! Wish he were still drawing.

Craig

No snow storm here, thank God. Going hunting in the morning, supposed to be sunny and close to 50 degrees. Mid 40's on Sunday.

Hi Jon,

I am trying desperately to find Gerry....do you have any contact information.  My mom recently passed away and Gerry had given her his donkey, Buddy.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mainehunt;

You must be wwaayyy up thar'! It's been hotter than hell down here..in the good ole' granite state!

I am very happy you folks got your government to recognize constitutional carry. When it comers to constitutional issues of any nature generally government doesn't want to hear any of that..."we the people"? They don't want to even know that and that sounds like Washington ,DC where they bypass the constitution every chance they get!

Down here the governor vetoed constitutional carry as it empowered the people too much and here again they cannot have that! When you discourage crime the second greatest beneficiaries of that-the lawyers-lose potential business! Lawyers by and large in Washington,DC run the congress in example, not a terrible lot of difference in the states generally speaking  and those with nothing better to do than to keep the constitution squelched!
