Some of these decoys date back to the 1940's & 50's. The owl & crow sets are from the mid 1960's.
Plus you can see the various stuffed piebald crows.
You will also see an old 45 RPM record player e-caller; a "Call of the Wild" Circ. 1960 Also some of the different model Johnny Stewart cassette game callers.
The first photo is of a mint condition "Rock Crow Decoy" from the 1960's. These and the Evers crow decoys were the most durable ever made.
The second photo you can see two Evers crow decoys in front of the Evers Great Horned Owl decoy.
The third photo is of an old Garcia crow decoy from the 1960's. It was hard plastic and made in Italy.
The forth photo is of another piebald crow and a display case of old hand calls.
The fifth photo is of the very first custom e-caller I made in 1978 when I could not get the volume I wanted out of the Johnny Stewart game callers of the day. I used two 25 watt speakers and a 12 volt marine battery to power the unit.
I look at it like it's part of crow hunting history with everything in the new museum. The framed photos and articles written are all a part of that history.
I consider myself very lucky to have had all the wonderful experiences I've had over the past 40 odd years hunting crows. I've seen good areas come and go over the years and am always on the look out for new territory to stay ahead of the curve.
I took Boyd Robeson's wife out to lunch last Friday in Wichita. Boyd passed away on December 31st of 2000. He was a crow hunters crow hunter. His wife is now 86 years old and in pretty good shape yet. I have some wonderful memories hunting with Boyd Robeson in the old days.
The old "Call of the Wild" 45 rpm game caller that used records is another part of that history for some that remember them. I like the old Victor paper mache crow decoys because those were the first ones I used back in 1965 in South Dakota.
The old model 600 Johnny Stewart game caller reminds me of hunting in the mid 1970's that is what any museum is all about, a glimpse into the past.

In the first set of photos look at the 8th photo and you will see an old crow roost bombing sign from the 1930's. They used to dynamite the roosts back in the 30's & 40's, the last roost bombing was in 1952 just 40 miles from my home in Hutchinson, Kansas.
