WM: When you say "fisher crows" I think you are referring to what we typically call "rain crows" or "coastal crows". If your fisher crows do not sound like the common crow--sound nasel like they have a cold or stopped up nose, I suspect we are talking about the same bird. And yes, they do tend to like coastal areas..

Problem, as you evidently know, with fisher crows is they do not respond well to the common crow sounds we find on electronic callers. It is also difficult to mimic their sounds with mouth calls. I am not aware ( others may be ) of any dedicated sounds that might call fisher crows more effectively.

My experience with them is they are not aggressive in responding, tend to come in high and get higher quickly. They also tend to circle your stand... at near oxygen mask altitudes. They are also smaller than the common crows say.. 80% of their size but I do love to shoot them when they venture too closely.

Just hide well.. and use the common crow calls you have on your FoxPro..  you will kill some of them for sure....IF they have not been educated by someone else. Perish the thought~~~!!!!

Wingmaster: Skip is correct about "fish crows" being cautious.. however you can use decoys and use a mouth call.. (the one I have is a plastic body) I forgot the name of it.. anyway, just a very soft 3 or 4 call will bring them to you..as always, concealment is key as they do tend to be slow to decoy in to your spread..good luck, post pics after your shoot..

Wing Master:

Ditto on everything Skip said, especially "circle your stand".

But remember that these crows are slightly smaller than regular crows and when there are no common crows in their formation, your fire control system can be fooled into thinking these slightly smaller crows are at a higher altitude than they really are.  That is, a smaller fish crow at 48 yards looks proportional to a common crow at 60 yards.

During the opening day of dove season, I have to be careful and concentrate on the finer details of the dove to make sure I can determine the target is really a smaller yearling dove and a lot closer than I originally thought, that is, it is not a larger, adult dove, farther away.  If you don't shorten your lead for the closer and smaller dove, your load is going to pass in front of the smaller bird, forcing it to pull its head in between its shoulders!
