Is it going to be in a field or in the woods?

We always set up against a tree or tree line.. we brush in the blind with what we can find.... ever greens like pine or  cedar, oak limbs, holly, sweet gum.. anything with broad leaves or leaves.. for cover..honestly we could use Mylar from a potato chip bag and the crows wouldn't care or know.. this cammo is True Timber. Branded.. printed locally.... really tough and UV resistant.. briars will not tear it... i'll take some pics when they are brushed in and post..

I had seen an old farm house last year with lots of pecan trees around it on the way to the peach orchard.. A no trespassing sign was  clearly posted last year ,so I respected the sign and didn't stop.. Well today, on the way back home, I looked and didn't see the sign.. so I pulled in the driveway and the land owner was picking okra in his garden... I also saw a huge fig tree and two crows flew out with figs between their beaks..I got out introduced myself and said " I see you have some crows around.. he said, "yep".. I said have a look in the back of my truck.. I just happened to have 48 crop damaging dead crows stacked up for him to see.. he said " what was you name again? Well, long story short: he said give me your number and I'm going to call you when these nuts "start cracking." I asked him if anybody ever shot the orchard and he said long time ago a guy used to shoot them  but he hasn't been here in years.. music to my ears.. can't wait to get the phone call... so... driving around with some dead crows in the bed of your truck works..

I was up in the area where we shot in August and saw a very nice murder of ~150 leaving some oak trees. I watched them and they headed straight toward the orchard.. I called the owner and he said yes I standing outside and see them "when are you coming to shoot them." Well, tomorrow we will shoot his place for the third time since August...We are going to set up along his driveway.. exactly where they want to be... IF, we kill any, some may land on the asphalt driveway.. Oh, will that sound nice.. these birds have been hunted fairly hard and are some are educated.. Strategy is.. no decoys, no calling.. We will set up right where they enter the orchard on their "flyway." we will be set up 1/2 way up a knoll and will shoot them at eye level..  I have cut some 8'-10' bamboo and when we kill several crows I will " skewer" the deceased and lean them up against the trees for the crows to see.. Will post pics..

Mark,

Looking forward to see if the strategy works, I have thought about doing some things similar on some hard hunted birds.
Hope you bust them!

Thanks Butch.. about 40% of the birds last time were CSB's (call shy birds) This new group ( the 150+) could be just moving thru or locals that have gotten together.. they all seem to be moving together in one large group... so that is a concern... but we shall see in < 15 hours....

Mark Design looks cool. Did you previously post plans for this or would you share how you made the single unit. Also how did you buy the true timber . I have seen there clothes but not the fabric.? I want to make a couple run and gun light blinds any input would be appreciated

We picked up 96..no decoys were used until we killed a few.. finally used the Gibson and C-50.. some came to the call and "real" decoys nicely.. some said no thanks.. was a beautiful day..

On the last few hunts we've done together ( my dad, my friend and I) we've kinda started a new thing.. on some of the birds that are completely "sold" on our feeding set up and fly in and are circling over the decoys for a place to land..I have called out to the bird and said " hey" to get his attention.. the look you get from that crow is priceless.. He realizes in an instant that he just screwed up..that's of course when the lead exits the barrel(s)..

My blind is built out of old tree branches and some camo burlap. Simple, but, extremely effective. See my web album for the pictures. I'm not sure to post a link to it on this old outdated forum style: I will try it with HTML code. ( didn't work either )

Go here I guess... the long way.

I have since piled the entire front with cut brush so you can't see through it any longer.
