I busted a few Sat!

I found a great blind, its an old silo foundation with a tree growing out of it. It puts me about 3 feet below gound level! It worked great!!

I just need more birds!

I use a e-caller! JS 512 Crow come here call and fighting crows!

Good post gmochty. I like those unorthodox and very unique blinds! Old farm machinery, out buildings, rock piles, etc... All part of the good crow country landscape. But... I feel compelled to mention a situation years ago where a friend chose one of those old steel grain silos as a blind. Top was missing due to some storm years before but he climbed into the thing via a door on the side. Short of it was that crows came in by the dozens but my friend couldn't get any decent shots as the walls of this silo were about 8 feet in height. Crows would fly over and seconds were all he had to get a shot off. He was very frustrared and I had to ask him what he was thinking...and no, this person was not me!! Thanks for sharing your hunt!

GM,

When you said you were 3 feet below grade, that is a great setup! I call that an "LPB" that stands for "low profile blind"

Years ago there was this old manure spreader beneath this old pine near a stone wall..it was too good for what that is worth..I put my shot shells on the stone wall and everything else calls and snacks and it was a great location. The most natural set up is always the best. And the beauty of it all was that the crows more often than not came right from behind tree top level expecting to dip right in to the fields!!!

There also was this old cow gutter or whatever that a man could stand up in with the weeds all around it and it was between two fields and let me tell you what-that blind was heaven! no trees tall enough to push them up and they would come in from the front and back. And all one shot kills too! Man they were close!
So any time you got this in your area just use it!
Anytime you can get the farmer to make you one all the better! So congratulations!

I saw in Nebraska where these hunters were standing on side of this old shed and dropping crows too....it struck me as odd as unless you peeked around the corner you couldn't see them coming but i don't know-whatever works works right! That silo business strikes me as odd....I'd have just stood behind it..but whatever works!
