A common crow at the zoo!

I took my two little friends to the zoo today, ages 10 and 12, both girls.

They had a crow there that would caw like a normal crow but when the domestic geese started sounding off the crow would mimic the geese and sound just like a goose! It was very interesting to observe this as the crow did not have another crow in this large avery where he could fly around. He had no other crows to yak at so he made the best of his environment yaking at the geese! This was a first for me, it sure held my interest.

I have heard of a "pet" crow raised from a chick, mimicking other sounds.

OA,

I said to myself, that's the strangest thing I have ever heard because it did not sound that much like a goose but close enough to figure out what that crow was doing.

I've heard crows do mimicry before...but ravens their bigger cousins blew me away one day. One came over at tree top level sounding exactly like a crying baby! I began trying to pin point the sound when over it came like A huge vampire bat making that weird sound!
