Any Ontario Crow hunters on here?

Hey guys~I'm totally new to crow hunting, save for a few I've blasted with the .223 while groundhog hunting up here.  (terrific results with ballistic tip 55gr. hand-loads)  This fall, I'm prepped with good camo, decoys, and am ordering a couple of hand calls today.  I've even been shooting allot of clays with the old 12ga semi!  I have 2 barrels for it, a fixed MOD and a fixed FULL.  What would you guys suggest, and what shot size?  I've been told MOD is effective, with even #7-1/2s.

Anyhow, wanted to say hello...introduce myself...and see if there are any other Ontarians lurking on here!

Cheers!

Thanks Ted!  Well, I hope to do my part very soon.  Here's hoping my 20+ years of trap-shooting pays-off.  :)  It sure does when I'm hunting grouse!

Hey CW, I take a gentleman out almost weekly and he is a clay shooter and is really good at it. He still hits his fair share of crows buy way less than shooting clays.

Ontario here

We crow hunt between seasons. When waterfowl and deer close we hunt from January through to the end of September for crow and coyotes. As for chokes it really depends on the situation. Some areas we really need to reach out and touch them yet other areas they decoy in close. For shot we use 7 1/2 for most hunts although we drop to 6 for the extended range shooting. Where in ontario are you? We hunt the guelph and halton areas which has a very healthy population of crows. Steve

Hey guys~thanks for the replies. Kyle~sent you a message! :) Steve~I'm near Newmarket, or, about 1-1/2 hours from Guelph if the traffic is normal. Are you on crown land? Sounds like private property out there...but just guessing. I'm about to post about my first dedicated crow hunt yesterday~I think I'm hooked!
