Good Hunt with the Guy's

Son, grandson and myself lit out at 2 a:m, should have left at 3. Got my wires crossed thought it was a 3 hr drive but it was only 2. Needless to say we had plenty of time to set up.(lol). It was a cool 42 degrees with a NW breeze 5 to 10 and clear skies, just one of those great fall days to do some Crow killin. Crows woke up a little later than usual, most of the time it's 6:15. Turned on the caller and talked to them a few times  and then it began, soft shots , snap shots, hard shots  you name it we had them. It was great to watch 4 or 5 come in and see the Guy's not let them leave. It was nice to bust them with pecans in their beaks. We wound up picking up 157, just guessing we lost maybe 20. Weve had some good days doing a lot of things but this is in the top 10 for sure. Great Day Afield and hope we get to do this a bunch!

Dont know about y'all but I do love to see a Crow go "POOF"

I will post pics later.

Butch

Sounds like a great time, especially having son and grandson along.

I agree with watching a crow go "poof"..........something about hearing the "thud" and still watching a pile of feathers floating away in the breeze.......biggrin

Thanks for the kind words fellow CrowHunters, It's prime time here on the pecans and the last two shoots were special, paid a lot of dues to get there but y'all sharing your hard earned info we didn't have to pay as much as others. Areas that have a lot of birds are not that easy to find in my neck of the woods, anytime we could kill 20 within 50 miles of home is a very good hunt..

Made another hunt this a:m on a orchard we killed 75 on Oct.4, usually wait a month but Owner wanted us to try sooner. We set up in a older section with large trees and 20 minutes after daylight I put in a full choke and my Son went Xtra full, Crows showed us a thing or two and hopefully a lesson learned.(lol). Had a lot of practice on high birds and had to finess them with the E-Caller and mouth calls. We picked up 40 hard earned birds and was reminded how special the last hunts were. Had a great time, still a lot to learn about these rascals. Son forgot phone and didn't take pic.
Didn't mean to sound like we don't appreciate gettin 40, we do but we were hoping for more. Actually I don't know if you can ever bust enough of them without wanting more! (lol)
