Finally got back after them after a month layoff, sure felt good getting back in a blind. Shot an orchard that has produced well  this year. This was the 4th hunt so we didn't expect a lot and were prepared for a lot of call shy and seasoned birds. Got setup and in blind before good light, great morning clear 35 degrees and light breeze. Things started slow and mainly stayed steady, had a few flurries that made for some sporty shooting. Shooting was over by 9 am, killed 5 to 7 between 9 an 10. Still picked up 95. We shot poorly this am, missed a lot of easy shots but that's the way it goes some days for us. Owner was pleased that this year we have taken close to 400 off this grove and put us in contact with an owner of another orchard that is supposed to have more crows than this one does, got permission and hopefully we will get to see if it does. Had a great time with my Son.  Still have a pick to post from the last hunt and will post the pics from today, gonna have to get retrained on pic posting from my son or grandson. (lol)

Good one, Butch! Muzzleloader ends on Tuesday here (I am done today), and then I can start chasing crows next weekend. Even though the season started 9/1, I just never seem to get out during deer seasons (bow, regular, muzzleloader), and when I did once there a couple of weeks ago I had a slug whiz by me, so the crows are a winter thing for me.

Merry Christmas!

Jerry

Edited post with pic, did not have time to lay them out and make a number. We had to meet with a new property owner.

Jerry,

That 4 by 6 trailer has come in handy for hauling all the gear and now that we can drive in some of the orchards we don't have to pull out the old "cart of death" to haul off the carnage.(lol)
Hate that you had a close call, hearing a slug is to close for me! Hope the Crows cooperate for you and you have a great time getting after them. Looking forward to your pics and posts.

Being able to drive to your hunting locations is a real blessing.

BH - That's for sure... I've gotten very stuck in snow and/or mud a couple of times taking a chance. Best for me to hike with my big sled, or travel very lightly.

Truly impressive that you had to upgrade the Cart of Death to the Trailer of Death to haul off the hog/coyote feed!

Great shoot! Nice Rig! The tree-huggers would have mixed emotions: you're re-cycling your camouflage but destroying their beloved crows. biggrin

B.H. You and rookie are correct, hauling our gear on 2 "carts of death" a couple of hundred yards in an out will whoop the tar out of you! The reason we shot here was that we could drive in, the one I wanted to shoot we could not and I am glad we didn't, if you look at the pic at my face that isn't a scowl on it, that's what I look like after leavin at 1:30 am. I was whooped.

M12 thanks I am 98% still haven't got that other 2 back and brother I miss it, believe that's the stamina part.

O.A. I really get a kick out of your posts and B.H. Has the same wit and humor now Rook-ie is showing his!
Thanks for the laugh ! I needed it.
