Icy road conditions almost stopped us from going, but caught a break and headed South 4 hrs to some warmer temps, 45 at daylight and warmed to 65 by 10 a:m which is a big contrast to what it has been here. Sorry guys up North I know y'all have had it rough with all the cold and snow. Anyway had a sporty shoot, wind made it a lot of fun. Gusts up to 30 let Mr.Crow show us some jaw dropping acrobatics, very few soft shots on this hunt. But had a lot of fun commenting on each others shooting ability and inability (lol). Birds were very wary and on top of there game and we were not, we estimated our success rate in the 40 % rate and might be lower ( probly was). Anyway picked up an even 50, lost about 8 others in thick stuff and had a great time. Was going to hunt 2 days but a high chance of rain sent us home. Got pics and I'm going to post with some others that I haven't posted from some other hunts soon in a new post
30 mph winds and one flip and they are gone! Very tough to get doubles and triples are near impossible. "your only going to get one good shot so you have to make it count"
There was a spot on the Arkansas River that Boyd Robeson and I shot for years when the wind came up like that, Boyd called the spot "blood alley" because you were out of the wind there. The crows were also out of the wind in that bend in the river with plenty of timber. That was the kind of spot where it was a given even before you shot the first crow that you were going to shoot at the very least 300 birds that afternoon.

Several times today we had multiple birds coming into the wind and we were licking our chops for the soft shot, then blink your eye and they're gone. The soft shots we got they were fighting the wind and as Bob stated after you shot they were very few second chances.
Thankfully gust were 30 average was 10 to 15 mph. Motiondecoy we did a lot of missing (lol)

Never have experienced snow and cold as you guys have gotten and honestly don't want to, 13 inches and 3 ft drifts in the 90's was my worst here and that shut us down completely for a couple of days. Y'all been dealing with this for a while, hopefully the North will be smiled upon and have great spring and summer weather!
Excruciating cold (below zero) and 3 feet of snow here and there...the ski slopes are raking it in and the snowmobilers are in paradise! ice fishing must be fantastic too!
I must be getting old, Butch. I used to enjoy winter. Not anymore. It lasts to damn long up here. I know I will move down south someday. Maybe not as far as Alabama....I think the summer heat would kill me, too! Steve
In later years just become a snow bird and head south when winter sets in. Lots of folks from the northern states spend the winter in AZ, TX, FL and south AL.
