Not enough crows up here yet to warrant a shotgun hunt but had a bit of fun sniping some early migrants yesterday. Set up my caller at the base of a big old oak and let it do it's magic. Sunrise brought a few visitors which circled and kicked up a fuss. A few would land up top the oak and look down to find the source of the commotion...making for fine 155 yard shots with my venerable Sako 222 varmint rifle. 6 shots fired with 3 kills...which rather perplexed me as these birds were in prime range. I'll blame the misses on a mild crosswind and rusty shooting skills! Included a couple pics, one of my hide and the other of a "hanger"...which proved to be a great attention getter!

You have a very accurate caliber in the .222. I had one many years ago that was a tack driver at 100 yards. Anything up to 200 to 225 yards was dead meat with that rifle.
I was talking with my hunting partner this morning and we are both looking forward to next season already. Dick still has snow on the ground in Cleveland Ohio.

Exploding crow in the Pines!!!! Rem 6mm pushing 75 gr. Sierra HP.. Leupold 20x at 225 yards = a busted crow!! Crow "shrapnel" leaving area at high velocity!! Used to kill lots of crows with a rifle but not anymore... too many people around. What is missing from this picture..is the audio.. so just think "WHAAAP" when you look at it!!!
