Out again at first light, cold crisp and frosty. Shot from an opening at the edge of a willow slough. Steady shooting from 07:00 up to 08:30,, stragglers after that but enough to keep my interest. Finished off with 39 good crows and several possibles. Shot some nice doubles and a triple all with a pump gun!
Absolute spiritual experience watching the natural world come alive...or head for cover. Got to be witness of an amazing migration of American Robins. Countless thousands were pushing north in waves. I have never seen so many of theses common backyard birds at once. Also a close encounter with a huge Western Canadian crow fed skunk
Pics include mornings first light, some of the spoils and a couple other interesting captured moments in time
Tell us how you put your decoys up so high in a tree. You have probably been ask before, but some of us suffer from short memory. Look like they are up about 25-30 feet in your pic.
I watched BH do the same kind of magic during our joint hunt in the March fog. He ties two together with mono-filament fish line and literally hurls (them like Zeus tossing thunderbolts) to the tops of the tall trees. He brings them down using his hotstick or simply shoots the string. A sight to behold
BTW, it appears our Mod disposed of our troll. At lease we got some new "Hate Mail" from him/her/it.
