Mouth calling questions

Hi everyone,

I am new the crow hunting. I last season after i tagged out for deer REALLY early and then needed something to do. I love wing shooting so i figured why not give crow hunting a go. Little did i know i would love everything about crow hunting and now prefer it over everything else (excluding opening day of Dove season). I still have a lot of questions though:

1: What mouth calls (brand name) do you prefer? And calling tips in general. I read the post a few spots down and that makes a lot of since but does anyone know of a video on how to call or thought about making one? It just helps to figure out cadence and all the smaller details for good calling when you can actually hear the calling your trying to mimic.

2: Do you all make permanent blinds and if so how to you attract them to it? I hunt dove fields (sunflowers) and use a dozen feeding decoy spread now out of a layout blind when solo or make one is the tree line if i have a partner that day.

3: What do you all actually do with them when your hunt is over? I hear of "dispose of them properly" but that could mean a lot of things.

4: How do you pluck the feathers for the native american tribes? Just yank them out or is there a trick?

I make a brand new decoy set up every time I go row shooting, as it's rarely on the same field two days in a row (as our crows aren't migratory, so get shot at 365 days a year. Hence they soon move to another field if possible when they've been shot at.
I have a post on here about the sequence of mouth calling, I.e.the caws
I would never stay with one call, as crows are very intelligent (like foxes) and if one call is used too often, they soon get to "recognise the caller" and stay away. I have about 8-9 mouth calls I use, and asalways adding whenever possible, variety is the spice of life, and the art of killing pests.

Welcome to the site, jacobhwrd! As Redditch implied, a search of this site for calls or mouth calls will bring up lots of info, as will a search here of virtually any other crow hunting topic. Opinions here are absolutely free! I anticipate that crows might even pull you away from doves a bit (except for opening day).

Good hunting!

In my views, JC Higgins is the easiest call to blow...but that is just me...I love the Haydells'a plastic call but requires a but of skill..if you join crowbusters and check out advanced calling techniques you'll get a lot of info there...well allover this website actually...where I am, it requires different techniques...but so long as you have crows and a steady influx of new crows they will work...

Personally I do not use electronic callers and here is why...it is because  too may others' are doing the exact same thing; the exact same calls...and crows are not that naive...sooner or later they will use your calling as a warning to get the hell out...!!

I would read crow shooting secrets (out of print) but can be found some where  on this website...I use those techniques myself...
