So, farmer asked me to have a look at his field when there was good weather, as a small area had been flattened and the corvids and pigeons were feasting (in his words " not a lot of traffic, but best to move them on before they get settled" )

So this morning got up at 03:30 and was set up by 04:30 with just a whirly, and 6 decoys as there wasn't really room for more.

From 05:00 till 07:00 it was reasonably busy, but then tailed off, and from 07:00 till 08:30 only got another 5, and from 08:30 till 09:30 only got another 2, so decided pack up.

Finished the morning on 27 mixed corvids, and recovered 16

One grey crow that I dropped, hit a power line on its way down, and decapitated itself, it's head landing a metre away from its body.

Sounds as if there was a good photo op with that last bird biggrin.

Lol, I have its body and head in the back of the wagon with the others I recovered.
They make good fox food :)

Had another hunt this morning on another field of barley (different farm)
Unfortunately it's three adjoining fields and last time I shot it they simply moved to the next field.
I had thus arranged for two other shooters to join me, with the plan being to have one shooter in each field, but late last night the other two shooters Informed me they couldn't come :(
Result was exactly the same as last time, first hour 15 birds, and then ZILCH, as they all moved over to the adjoining fields :(
So, after 3 hours total, with NOTHING in the last two hours, I reluctantly packed up.
From tomorrow rain is due again, so will be a week or more before I can shoot them again :(
