Yes my friends, another “new” blueberry field and me all full of anticipation of another crop of 2016 young, dumb bandits.

Fired up the “owl hooter/crow fight” at the appointed time and they charged in. Two shots fired, two down. “Wow,” I thought, “This will surpass BH’s Tuesday report of 12 down (he had help, though, from his daughter).”

First shot was muzzle flash against purple sky with subsequent “crow snow”—ah, art! And to make it even better, it thumped to the ground about 10 feet from me. But alas, this field was occupied 360 degrees by highly educated birds. Crow racket all around me on the distant tree lines for the next hour and a half, but no passers-by, so I hung it up.

Otherwise picture-perfect clear, relatively cool morning, surrounded by great SW MI blueberries and more practice putting up the pine bough blind. This is a better blind photo than of Monday’s version.

Any day with one or more down is a good day!smile

As for the early morning BMNT photo, I was trying to silhouette the owl and other decoy against the light. Didn't work well as it required too long an exposure for my unsteady hand, so I used the flash which only highlighted the dust in the air and also all the dirt on my lens. Eh, you got the idea.

Re. speakers; yes. They are putting out way more sound than the Spitfire which still operates as part of the system (i.e., two big aux. speakers and the Spitfire). They do distort a bit, as they are a cheap imitation of a Prairie Blaster™. This would have been a good occasion to use your idea of using the steel rod "shepherd hook" plant hangers, upended, to raise each speaker above the grass. I spose' I'll get the hacksaw out and make that upgrade in the next couple of days. Thanks for the reminder.smile

Yes! a couple crow deeks placed at a high point...as crows typically perch, is way more effective Imo than a dozen on the ground. Great repost OA, keep that old M12 thumping the bandits!
