Had a peanut/pecan farmer call me last night. He just picked peanuts last week and he said the crows are coming in like crazy. Showing a lot of attention the pecan orchards as well.

Will post pictures after the shoot. So glad Oct is getting close!

Thanks Butch.

I am going down to the property and scout it Saturday afternoon. I will set up my equipment and blind Saturday night. Should be able to walk right into the blind turn on the caller and start shooting the next morning. Trying to talk the wife into videoing the hunt for me.

I got to hook up with a newbie (to the duck hunting method) today. Todd and I had a great shoot. He is a great shot. Anyway, we shot from about 6:30 until noon. The final picked up tally was 156. As planned we set up the blinds last night while planning on getting some decoys up in the pecan trees before the action started. Well, best laid plans and all, we did not wake up until 6:15. I got two in the trees and set up the caller. The action was good and steady the most of the morning. Todd and I had many poofs. Coined the phrase "Feathers in the wind". I believe he has caught the disease! Anyway, I told him he needs to create him a profile here. I suggested the handle of Thud Master.

The pecan orchard was still very green but it has about 40 acres of dug peanuts around it and about 100 of cut corn. Lots of birds but not near as many as it will have in a few weeks.

Barry,

Man, I am jealous! Shooting crows situated between pecans, pulled peanuts and cut corn...It doesn't get any better than that! I'll bet that is the way it's going to be set up for us crow hunters when we get to Heaven!smilesmile

The numbers also confirmed how good your spot was.  156 is a very impressive number for two hunters!

Thanks for the report and picture!

Demi

P.S. Butch, that was a good pun: "Thud Master" has a nice ring to it!
