I ended up going by myself last Saturday to south Dallas County here in Bama. The morning started out okay but faded fast after 8:00 AM. Ended up with 46 birds. I am guessing the heat and the drought are keeping the birds north. I didn't hear a single fish crow all morning.

Barry,

I'm with your thinking on this heat and drought, talked to some landowners this week and they are not seeing the crows. So I'm going to deer hunt this weekends cooler temps and check back with them next week. Hoping things will change in our favor, dang crows are hard enough to hunt. biggrin

Been mild here in MI too. Still in the 50s & 60s. Pretty nice really. Looks to continue for at least another week.

...3 years ago we got snow on Nov 16 and it stayed until the end of March.

Has to be the drought. I went back to the same farm I killed 156 on a month or so ago. Changed pecan orchards and only killed 12. My worst morning hunt ever.

I'm gonna agree with the consensus on drought and heat. Between the rattlers, ticks, and king size mosquitoes I'm patiently waiting on a cold snap before kicking off the hunting season.

Hi Barry,

The fall drought and the fact that e have been pushing 90 degrees here in north Texas until very recently, isn't help our crow hunters.

Regards,

Barry,

Going in the morning solo to an orchard I've never shot, don't have high expectations but would like to see them get somewhat normal. Drought and the hot weather has been a head scratcher for sure. That 12 relates to our 2 man 35 hunt which dulled my stinger for sure.
Hopefully it gets better for us if not there's always next year. Will post how tomorrow goes.

Actually one of mine did get a little rusty after we hunted on a drizzly day. Cleaned right up though and still has a lot of dead crows left in it LOL.
