Crow Week - Part "B"

We just completed our second half (Part “B”) of Crow Week.  This is where we put together hunts with Jerry Tomlin, expert crow guide from Milledgeville, GA, but base it out of a family home between Aiken, SC & Augusta, GA.  The point is that crow hunting can be a part of a fun package when done in conjunction with other activities.  Here is our itinerary:

-       Arrive at the Camp the afternoon before the 1st day of hunting.

-       Get settled in while eating a meal of snacks/Tapas & consuming some adult beverages.

-       Hunt day 1 starts out with a good gourmet breakfast before heading to the blind.

-       Hunt crows until they stop, usually by noon.

-       Eat lunch at a nearby restaurant then shoot sporting clays at Palmetto Shooting Complex.

-       Return to the camp and fish or freshen up before going into Aiken for a nice meal.

-       Hunt day 2 is just like the first, only leave for home without shooting sporting clays.

-       Repeat the same agenda with second crowd (4 hunters).

This week was marred by some high winds, cold weather, rain and call shy birds, but each group did get in some fun hunting while having a great time.

The pictures are of:

-       Blue grits croquettes with guacamole & creek shrimp.

-       Stuffed, marinated & bacon-wrapped dove breasts.

-       Typical breakfast.

-       Hunting results.

Hope you enjoy.

Demi

Hi Demi,

What an operation!  Fun, fun, fun...

And I vote for the "typical breakfast".

Regards,

I'd grade part B with an "A."

Crows, Clays, & Cuisine: A winning combination.

Thanks for sharing!

Demi,
Brother that breakfast makes me rethink the old fried bologna sammitch, that's 1st class eating. Sounds like y'all had a great time.
Thanks for letting us in on your Adventure and Congrats on the hunting.

Thanks for the good comments, guys. I like cooking almost as much as I do crow hunting so combining the two is what I call a Win-Win! And when done with good friends, it's very hard to beat.

Demi
