Is the sun stick used when the sun is high enough to skylite your face/head? Or more simply to keep the sun out of your eyes?

Bob might add to this, but I use mine to keep the sun off of my face (eyes) and to keep the sun from highlighting my face. Also can hid a bit behind it, if the bandits are coming out of the sun (like the enemy always did in the old movies biggrin ). Mine does not have the surface area of Bob's but, I intend to increase its size this season. The one in the photo is a "prototype" c/o a chunk of camo net tied around an aluminum pole. Continuous improvement, eh?

OA,

Dick & I have ours on painters poles where they telescope up or down as the sun gets higher or lower in the sky. They are great as you have found out in regard to blocking the sun so it does not blind you! We have spikes on the bottom so they go right in to the ground to support the sun stick vertically.

Your sun stick is a very good start OA, I am sure you will be tweeking it as the seasons roll on.

Actually, I forgot about the painter (extension) pole idea. You just saved me a couple of (rapidly diminishing) brain cells. smile

Thanks.

Forgot to mention that Michigan crow season ("early," "First half," "#1" -- Big Honkers always gives me a hard time about what to call it...) begins on 1 FEB!
