Was planning on going out tomorrow morning but they just issued a high wind watch...with winds 20-30mph with gusts to 50...we also received 20 inches of snow the in last 4 days...plan was to hunt a produce dump adjacent that had a good number of birds in it prior to the snow....so should i still give it a shot or just stay home and wait till Friday...

I'd stay at home for sure with winds they don't seem to come down very far maybe because the wind is less higher up? I'm no proffesional and bobs opinion should be takin into consideration more than mine. Also unless you have a super loud caller wind really blurs sound and also pushes it that could be good maybe the crows are downwind of you but if they are upwind your screwed even with a megaphone of a caller. Third, like humans I honestly think they just don't like the wind and stay at home, idk why but imo it's because when it's super windy they have to work super hard to go in a specific direction and anybody with eyes can see that by watching them fly in super high winds.

I recall one day last year it was very very difficult and I did poorly. So therefore someone who has done a lot of wind shooting can tell you you are better off then to wait for a calmer day? I myself cannot imagine shooting in 50 mph winds!

Many years ago when they still had the roost 15 minutes from my home in Hutchinson I would wait for a strong wind (15 to 25 or 20 to 30 mph) because in rare cases it helps if you have the right spot to shoot from. There was a bend in the Arkansas River that the crows followed in strong winds on there way to the roost in the afternoon. Boyd my hunting partner of many years dubbed the place "Blood Alley" because in that unique spot it could be howling outside but in that bend of the river in a south or southwest wind you were completely out of the wind and so were the crows! If you couldn't kill at least 300 crows in that spot when conditions were right then something was wrong!

In almost all other situations with high winds it is better to wait for a better day when the odds are more in your favor!
