New Blind Idea Maybe?

I'm gonna try and post pictures I hope it works!

So about 3 days ago I killed my 2nd crow, I havn't been going lately mainly because of weather, I walk ALOT when I hunt and have a long walk to and from the first stand i normally take so when it's hot I stay home! Well when I killed my 2nd crow I decided it was time to build a portable blind, I'm very sick of getting busted these crows are just so dang smart and can see you blink 100 yards off it seems!

So I build my crow blind out of an 8 foot piece of cattle panel that is bent and has 4 corners now with the pieces cut on one end with hooks kinda to catch the other side and hold on, these are normally used for tomato plants but I thought they'd work great with some camo on them, well today was my first day trying it out without 50 mph winds lol. Did it work? I'd like to think so, I killed one my first fish crow.

The blind is far from portable for me, it's more of a portable blind in the sense that it isn't permanent but I couldn't and wouldn't carry it everywhere I go, thinking about making a pvc fold up blind for a go-everywhere blind I will be keeping everyone updated as I go along with it.

3rd pic is the crow and the outside of my blind, also my dog haha. The crow fell way back behind me in some super thick stuff and the dog went and got it, glad he did so I didn't have to run after him he was ahopping away haha.

Last pic is of the inside view, both pics of the blind it is opened up so I can get in and out easier I close it up only when I'm inside

2nd pic is of the view from the inside when it's closed up.

1st pic is a handle little clip for shells but the box was almost empty so I put my cigarettes in there too haha.

Very sorry about the order! Go easy it's my first time ooolala lol.

Nice to see another O/U shotgun crow shooter! I take mine once in a while. My silver receiver makes me a little self conscience.

Nice job on the blind, JT. The spring clip is a nice extra. Also, congrats on the fish crow. They are usually hard to get within range!

Two observations: First, IMO, the camo cloth is a good base, but still needs extra brush in front of it. This will help increase your crow counts!

Next, if the new blind gets bigger and the same camo cloth is used, the white backing will be visible to the overhead crows. That would be a white flag to them.

Thanks for the good post. Keep the improvements coming and you will also be clipping a crow counter/clicker to the inside of the blind!

Yeah the white sucks but it's all I had, I plan on getting some mesh for the roof and using the 2nd piece of cloth for the bottom.

Also I would use extra brush when I actually setup for a more serious stand, I was just trying it out in the yard lol.

Yup it's just a Stoeger but I actually consider upgrading to a nicer O/U because I like using it so much or maybe a S/S either way I really enjoy using mine.

I get nervous when I have my Beretta O/U in the blind. I enjoy shooting it but Im always worried the wood is going to get scratched or marked. Haha, I pick and choose when I crow hunt with it.

A nick or a scratch here and there is just good honest wear in my opinion. Be careful as you can but don't get upset if it gets a blemish here and there.

This Remington 870 Wing Master has presidential grade wood on it and it has a fair amount of good honest wear over the years.

The older MOssbergs were "famous" for nicks and scratches. Just look at the stock cross eyed and get a scratch. Surprises me that an 870 might get that too. I doubt the older luxury shotguns like the Parkers got scratched up that easily though?

Couldn't agree more, it sometimes disgusts me to see how some people will treat their guns just tossing them around everywhere they go, I always say I need a 870 Synthetic Stock 12 gauge just to toss around but honestly I still couldn't see myself abusing a gun no matter how cheap it may be.  I agree with Bob though, sometimes those small nicks and scratches are reminders of those good hunts or maybe those bad days so you can say "Hey it could be worse like that one day when this happened."

I actually have my dad's first gun it's a mossy model 500 let me tell you it isn't perfect but I'm very suprised of the condition it is in, I plan on buying one for my kids first gun just because of how well it held up for my dad and I'm sure he wasn't easy on it haha.
