Some of you might remember "Erica". Several months ago she appeared on the  CB board asking for someone to supply her with some crows. Seems she was a taxidermist and needed "material" to sell. Several board members...and correctly so, doubted her motivation suggesting she might be PETA or some animal activist plant on the board. That has sure happened before but it turned out she was not. Once I determined she lived in N.C. I contacted her, she convinced me she was legit. I offered to supply "some crows" and did so in late Feb. of this year--40 crows to be exact. She said I "made her day" and promised to present a mounted crow to me in appreciation. Well, a couple of weeks ago she did--picture attached. I was a very nice gift, crow looks great ( this picture does not do the bird justice but looks fine in my crow room ). Erica also works for Ralph Lauren and taxidermy is a hobby or was a hobby as she tells me now she is doing it full time. I wish her luck...and more crows have been requested! And really, who you gonna call for such a job: a dedicated Crow Buster of course.

Thanks for Gadget Bob for posting... something I have yet to learn how to do.

Erica must come from some very good genetics. Wonderful story Skip. I has 4 decoys for years..."stuffers" we call them up here. Namely real birds mounted as decoys. They are delicate but if kept dry and handled gently stuffers will last for years. I mounted these in high school taxidermy class. Skip, might you commission this fine young Belle to put a couple weeks together for you ?

There was quite a storm after her first posting. I think Skip must have learned Ronald Regan's method of "Trust But Verify" relative to going into a cooperative arrangement with a stranger.

Glad to hear it worked out so well! Nice picture, too.

Demi

P.S. Ted, did you mean "weeks" or "deeks" in your last sentence, above?

Hi Skip & Erica!

Nice story. Erica had a rough start here on Crowbusters because of our naturally suspicious attitudes but she earned everyone's trust quite quickly. I like her alternative style.

I'm glad she hooked up with a premier CB member to fill her black feathered request.

Looking forward to more reports or photos of the projects she completes with the birds.

Every single one of them... yes! All with different highly figured exotic wood... all treasures! And, there is a brass prairie dog there as well... Crows are to shotgunners what prairie dogs are to riflemen!

May I ask this please: Other than the TCP, are there other prairie dog hunters in our audience?

No prairie around here and I'm still searching for groundhogs.

Do have a couple of friends who make their annual "pilgrimage" out west to destroy the little vermin. I'm thinking of asking to tag along on one of their trips, as it looks like much fun.
