I have been chasing a good sized fall flock this past few weeks...I'd say perhaps 3000 birds. Bounced a few hundred as these have now smartened up to my operation as remain cautious to calling. Time to hunt some edible game. Had my 13 year old out this past weekend and he shot his first duck...actually ducks. Pair of northern pintail and a gadwall. Proving to be a marvellous shot. Guess a summer of youth 16 yard trap and bit of crow shooting proved valuable.

It was a privilege to watch my boy kill ducks with authority. His grandfather would have been very proud of this accomplishment as his father is. Grand dad was a ardent duck shooter all his life. His feelings toward goose shooting were that these birds were for the guys that hide in ditches..biggrin

Photo below of my boy with his first ducks.

As they say: "Suitable for Framing"

Ted,

In short, it doesn't get any better than that!! Great story and a perfect picture. It even makes me feel proud of him! Thanks for sharing.

Ted,

Congrats, Fine looking young man. Your story brought back good memories of my own. Good to hear you've been hammering the crows also.
