What are those, starlings or blackbirds? The size of them in relation to the guys shoe size looks like they are very small birds if indeed they are birds?
So what have you two been up to since I last ran into the two of you?
All I'm doing is putting ammo into the ammo dump for next fall. I suspect you two are doing the same.
John,
Does Mike still use that shotgun that Jerry and I autographed for him in the motel room?
Hope you're having a good summer.
Bob A.

That picture is actually of crow's feet! There are 1,714 crow's feet in that pic....or 857 birds.
John and I are were in a crow contest on a local MN website and the rules where each team had to cut off the feet to prove final numbers.
We had to store the feet in our freezers so they wouldn't go bad......we both found bags of frozen crows feet in our freezers long after the picture was taken.
We won the contest.
We had a good year last year, highlight might have been a 167 bird shoot in MN which I've never even heard of before, although we had bigger kill numbers in other states.
Hopefully we will cross paths this year!!

Yes he still uses it. He actually had a problem with that gun and sent it in to get fixed. They wanted to replace the stock but he said he wanted that one because of your signature.
He put clear tape over the autograph so it will not ever wear out, smart :)
Thanks
The real "John" from MN

He is only so so, I spoke to him over the phone last week and he said he is feeling a little better, but that changes by the week! I don't know if John mentioned this to you but Jerry is dieing from cancer, he is on some very strong pain killers. Jerry is a top shelf type of guy in my book, and even though he isn't the man he was even 3 years ago I still enjoy his company in the crow blind. I still don't know if he will be able to make it out here for this coming season, 50/50 at best. If not you will run into me hunting alone during November.
What was that 3 seasons back when I first ran into you Mike? When Jerry was letting the hot wire down and you stopped in the road I thought you were a local. When I went over to you're vehicle I thought you were a deer hunter at first, then you said "your Bob Aronsohn aren't you" and thats how it all happened.
Very good talking with you Mike, you're buttstock still looks like the day I autographed it.
Talk to you soon I hope.
Bob A.

I hope Jerry can make it out with you again this fall, he's a cool guy. When people ask me about the autographs on my gun I give a little background on both of you and when speaking about Jerry I say "and this guy shot over 500 crows, alone, with a .410"!!
It was actually two seasons ago that I met you guys on that gravel road.....I had driven all night long and was doing some scouting and ran into you guys opening the fence. When I realized it was Bob A. I figured I was in the right area!! ha ha
We will have to go out for dinner and eat some tacos again this year, Bob! Hopefully John won't eat all of the chips again.
Shane that's a SBEII.....works great, kicks with 3.5's but love it for crows which has been my main target for a long time.

Very nice photo of the 167 crows shot in Minnesota. Minnesota holds more crows during the fall & winter than they used to years ago. This is why I say that good places come and go over time.
Where I ran into you in Kansas is the last bastion of crowdom in the state! You and John would have gone bezerk 25 to 30 years ago in reno, stafford and sedgwick counties in the state! The roost in reno county had one million plus crows, so did stafford county! Sedgwick county had perhaps 40 to 45 thousand crows.
Holdridge, Nebraska used to be pretty good back in the 1980's. They had a roost south of Funk, Nebraska which held 100,000 plus birds. Newton, Iowa had a fair amount of crows, you had to hit it the first week or you were out of luck, to many guys hunting them in that area!
Man I can't believe it's going to be my 37th season out here come this fall, the time flies by when you're having fun.
Talk to you soon.
Bob A.
