Looks like your set up near a secondary highway. I find around here they like to stay near roads. Two flyways that they use when they are roosted up for the winter are beside or over a highway. One flyway is in the middle of a wide river. Which path they take on a given day is anybody's guess. Also, during the summer I see more crows walking and pecking along a road than out in a field.

Some of the best shoots I've had have been within the steady "drone" of major highways. Pat if you have an electronic caller then you should be able to pull those crows a short distance off their flyway to within shooting range...if discharge of shotguns is permitted that is.
Sadly so many good concentrations of crows these days are in metropolitan areas. My folks reside next to a golf course where a fall roost of many thousands of crows gather. When I visit them in the evening I almost have a seizure!

Ted, As long as I am 35 yards from the road I can hunt. I cannot shoot in the direction of the road. Mind you in this day and age if anyone sees me along the road and hears a shot, I'll probably get a visit from the police claiming that I shot AT them....
No problem getting a few hundred yards off the road, and will be getting a foxpro later in the fall. Will have to try it, maybe gun and run along the highway for 30 or so miles.

How many decoys did you use before you got a bigger spread? I just went and purchased 6 more last night. although that only makes 12 now and none of them are flocked. but like you said, I think it still might help in confidence.
At first, we had 6 decoys, and they were not flocked
After, I bought 8 GHG flocked decoys. It was a big step! When de the decoys were not flocked, crows were shy and didn't land in decoys. But with flocked decoys, crow are really confidents!!
So, we had 24 flocked decoys this spring, and it works good
This summer, we have 48 flocked decoys, and I dont want more now. 48 make a nice black spot in the field !
The best advice I can give is to buy flocked decoys!!
If I have the choice between a small set-up of flocked decoys (6 decoys) and a big set-up of non flocked decoys (....48 decoys) I will hunt the small one!!!
With non flocked decoys, crows were comming to see, but stay high and never want to go down. It was always longs shots of flying crows.
Now, with flocked decoys, crows are landing in set-up, comming really low , flying 2 feets of the ground. It is easier to shoot and give more results!!
Target I agree with you,especially in the morning and late day the dekes look grey and shiny if not flocked,and if you have a little misting it gets worse.I also have had my none flocked dekes frost up in the cold,but after flocking they dont.I have crows land in my dekes often,last year I had one land while I was still putting them out!!!

Exact! You dont have to buy GHG, you can flock your decoys by your own. I used a kit bought on E-Bay It works good and it is easy to do.....but it is not as resistant as GHG decoys are.....
I prefer to buy GHG decoys, already flocked and they look better (my opinion....)
I have six of the Green Heads,I love how quick they deploy and the movement you get in the wind. I have had great luck with the CROW MART flocking kit,I also keep the dekes in waterfowl single slot bags,keeps the fresh,you can see quickly if your missing one,and deployment is faster,thats real important to me.
