Got out this morning to test out the new calls I got. Wish I would have connected on every shot but it was really breezy this morning and they where really moving when the come in. So my hit % is way down. O well. I recovered 80 hulls and downed 27 crows pics will follow. Total time 3 1/2 hours from one spot and I was the only one on this hunt solo.
there are 24 in the pile I had a few runners that I tried to catch but darn there fast I like how they stay still till 20 min go by and you finally see them out to 75 yds hopping away. O well I am counting them ones. Here is my hidey hole.
had a few branches to hide under but great shooting lanes. The majority of the crows came from 400-500 yards cupped and comited so I had lots of time to watch em decoy in. That was neat. I was out picking up some downed birds and 8 decoyed right in over top of me in the middle of the spread. Got 7 shots off on that group downing 3.while I was squatted in the middle of a cut hay field. They acted like I was a bush even when I started banging at them. Tons of fun it was a great morning to be out.

O yeah I kant spel eether
I had 13 decoys 20-30 yds out in the field. I have not perfected my hangers using my 40 decoy pole yet so I didn't mess with tree deks. The birds I hunt are so sporatic as to where they will be next weekend I really can't build a blind and go there every time and get birds. So I just find some thin over head cover and back into the brush and step out a little to shoot I had some come in close enough I could see there eyes and let me just say imp cylinder in not open enough. I hope to get some decoys in the trees next time.

I never looked for where the come from I look for where they want to be. Bout mid week I saw there were like 25 in this cut and baled hay field by Thursday there was 50 and by Friday around 6:00 there was prolly 150 so I figured they would be there Saturday. This spot is real close to town but it's out side the limits I just had to set up so I could shoot in a safe direction. That also made me look right into the sun once it crested the hill. So I have never tried to find out where there from just where they want to be and it seams to work for me.

JD Great job and pics.!!!!! Even better that you were using hand calls!!! Make sure you clean them calls with something strong!!! Some times if the crows are in close and I am by myself calling siting and shooting I put in a skeet choke, why not!!!
