Crow Camp !

Three fellas who go together every year to crow hunting camp were all gathered one day to talk about plans for camp. They each brought their wives with them. One guy’s wife informed him in front of his hunting buddies he would NOT be going to crow camp this year. His two friends were shocked and felt bad.

On the day the two guys arrived at crow camp, their third hunting buddy was already there, had camp set up and was relaxing with a can of Pepsi.

“I thought your wife said you couldn’t come to camp?” asked one. “What happened?”

“Well,” he said. “Night before last I came home and my wife met me at the door wearing some pretty provocative kind of fancy, lacy lingerie. She told me to follow her to the bedroom. Once I got up there, she dumped a bag of ropes and handcuffs out on the bed and told me to tie her up to the bed. Once I had that done, she said, ‘Now, do whatever you want!’ So, I rushed downstairs and packed up my gear and here I am!”

Nasty,

Telling a story like that is why they call you "nasty" lol.

If a fella really likes to hunt and he thinks things are about to get serious with a little female he had better have a firm understanding with that gal ahead of time! Now women have a tendency to lie a lot when it comes to getting there way, they can say "sure honey go ahead now" and later "what do you mean you want to go again, what about my needs" Ah, this is as old as the beginning of time between men & women.

If you want old Bob's advice on this matter I can tell you I know next to nothing about women!

Hello Hizz,

There are decent women out there, I was married to one for 31 years, she never gave me a problem about the hunting. But....... there are far more that are not that way!

My wife of 20 some years can't understand the crow hunting thing...or sitting out in some cold duck blind or deer stand for that matter. When our family travels I am on the constant lookout for crow activity. If crows are spotted I must check the situation out as at that point nothing else matters. My gal calls this state of mind "crow blindness".

She thinks I am retarded to go out and freeze my butt off crow shootin or coyote callin,I guess maybe shes right, but I am to old to change!!biggrin

Hizz,

I was meeting Dick Kilbane in another state last February and I got in a day ahead. This was a brand new state for us so I went into this little coffee shop to get a bite to eat. They had about two dozed field trial people there running Springer Spanials. So I struck up a conversation with these folks since I never met a stranger in my life.

I said to them "now I see why they call this a gentelmens sport" your having coffee at 9:00 a.m. and haven't even been in the field yet. Well that got the ball rolling! Some of these folks were from NY, MD, PA and OH. I told them I had a life long friend that still lives on Long Island, New York that dated a gal by the name of Laney Garven and her family had about 75 Springers that they ran in field trials back there. Come to find out that all these folks know the Garvens, it's a small world! I asked them if they ever entered any field trials this far south, they said no.

My friend Charlie Steele said he was over at the Garvens one day many years ago and they said "would you like to shoot some live birds this morning" and Charlie said "I have no shotgun with me" they said no problem, just go into the gun room and pick one out! So old Charlie picks out a very nice model 21 in 12 gauge to shoot, he always did have good taste in guns! He shot the Fox's, LC Smiths and Parkers, all in side by sides in North Carolina where is where his family is from.

When I used to run & gun crows with Charlie he would hoot like an owl and I'll be damned if the crows wouldn't respond and come right over! No call, he did it with his mouth and cupped his hands around his mouth when he did it. He didn't have much range but if they were close they would come a hustling on in.

Watch em fall - that's a nice looking brittany. My dad's got one that looks a lot like yours. His name is Pepe...he's from Mexico. My dad used to quail hunt in Texas a lot and picked him up down there.

Levi,

   thanx for noticing my boy!

My brittany is named Zack. He will be 4 on November 1st. Between me a few close friends and my wife we have shot between  175-200 birds over him.  Anyone who says a housedog won't hunt as well as kennel dog is full of it.  He sleeps in our bed every night and will out hunt all those (outside dogs).

Hizz,

I hunted ducks for years with black labs. What a wonderful breed. The Brittanys are a nice little bird dog, I've shot a lot of partridge over the Britts in Uruguay and Argentina in past years.
