Or is it run and gun??

Anyway, do you guys take decoys? How many? How long on a stand before you move? And how far between stands?

Tks
Pat

Pat,

It's run & gun. More times than most you're done within a few minutes on each stand. If you run into an area that has several family groups in the same general area it can last 10 to 15 minutes if you are lucky.

The distance between stands can vary anywhere from a quarter of a mile to a mile or more.

if you are going to hunt open woods a decoy may help or fields for that matter but if there are some small pines no decoy is needed. Remember r&g is usually light and fast it's about how many spots you can get in in a day.

Thanks guys, I was eyeballing a stretch of highway here that has crow scratching and pecking along the shoulder pretty well along the whole thing. Thought I'd park the car, try a spot, move down the road, park, try, etc. etc. If and when I do try it, will let you know how I made out.
Once again, tks

Pat

Try come here call first, then go silent for a few minutes. If they come shoot lead bird ,then go to distress or comeback call. After first burage move 150-200 yards then use fighting call to try to get another pass at remaining birds.

Pat B: All posts on your question are correct... run and gunners are usually IN the woods and decoys cannot be seen till the birds are on top of you, etc. so not nearly as useful as hunting flyway or open areas. So the instructions to keep it light and simple are most effective. The one thing I would add is, moving 150-200 yards is fine to try them again, but it is unlikely you will call the same bird or birds that you just shot at. They have been educated. But, you might attract a fresh bird or two which is good but do not count on that. I normally try to move at least out of ear shot.. from the previous stand...insuring that if birds do respond, they will tend to be fresh and eager..the key to a good TBC.
