New Vinci, what choke is best for crows?

I finally broke down and spent the coin on a nice semi. I've never owned a semi auto shotgun and after sholdering every gun in the store. This one felt best to me.

It came with 5 chokes, so which one would you guys suggest for crow hunting?

Thanks,

Eric

Eric,

Modified or light modified chokes will serve you very well for 90% of the shots you will get on crows. 7 1/2's or 8's in a trap (3 dram) load is the ticket.

Thank you Bob, I really need to fish around some forums to get a better feel on chokes. I found one that worked well in my pump and have never changed it for many years.

I really excited about this shotgun. I only had to sell a kidney and a slightly used liver to buy it. lol

Eric,

Read "A Crow Hunt to Remember" on the Home Page. All the crows shot (3,584 of them) in that article were shot with a modified choke using 7 1/2's and 8's out of a 12 gauge.

You will not find any better advise than on this forum when it comes to crows or what to kill them with, bar none!

Good choice on the Benelli, you will love shooting it,and it will give you years of service. I own an M2 in 12 gauge.

Hmmm? I don't know what the debate is all about but 7 1/2 seem to be working pretty good.

The shot size debate has been going on for as long as I can recall. It will probably be going on after they plant me for my eternal dirt nap. My take is use what works, I use 7.5s and 8's, but others prefer 4,5,or 6's. It is whatever you like and have confidence in that is your best choice. As far as choke some use full, some mod. and others imp.cyl. Again whatever works for the person is their best choice.sleepy.gif allthis typing makes my 2 fingers sleepy.

I own a Vinci and i can tell you mine shoots a realy tight pattern. I normally shoot mod on everything i shoot. I recently had a competition shoot and i took my vinci, normally i was not that good with the Vinci but i put my cylinder choke in and shot a 96 out of a 100. That being said pattern your gun and decide witch is best for you. If yours is like mine you will find that the mod will be to tight for crows.
