Well today polish hammer and watchem fall met up with me to take on some crows. All week good bird numbers. But you can guess how it worked where did they go ? We could hear them all around us first few hours but the wind was swirling and blowing pretty good and we ended up with 6 but for the number of birds that came by and the number of emptys we did good. Urghhhhhhhh
I hate it when the cards fall like they did today.
We had a couple singles a flock of six or eight and a large group of 15-20 come in.
O well I enjoyed shootin the breeze with them and am glad they took the time to come up bout an hours drive. Too bad the birds were not cooperating. Set up looked good.

Some times you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

Met JD this morning and had a great time, nice to meet people who enjoy crowhunting. First hunt in northwest pa. with Justin but hopefully there with be more hunts together. Kinda unique how a fellow hunter can seem like you known them more than a few hours. Thanks JD.

Hi JD and WEF,

It is fun to link up with fellow CrowBusters!  I met Texas Matt, Splash One and Skip all through CB and hunting with them is a blast.

I am betting those crows you were chasing have been hunted by others in that area.  Educated crows will generally not respond well to calling and if they do, they will flare beyond shotgun range.  Better luck next time out.

Regards,

Gadget Bob

Yeah I could agree with that but we didn't even get too many fly bys the birds just moved out. I don't know what else to call it they were not flaring off when they started in they came we did have a few educated birds but verry few flybyers. Next time

Thanks again JD for setting up the hunt.  The blind was awesome.  All it was missing was room service.  It was set up in a good spot (high, short grass out front, manure, corn fields close, pasture close, etc.) and there were lots of crows around.  We have the same thing happen in our area at times.  I go out by myself (doesn't happen often...usually Watch Em is with me) and whack a bunch and then we go out the next weekend (to a different location) and only get a few.  BUT like you said after we tag teamed that first one "at least we didn't get skunked".  And a bad day of crow hunting (which it wasn't bad) is better than a good day at work.

Looking forward to doing it again at some point.  Gonna get hard to get out in Nov/Dec because of deer hunting and so on.  Watch Em and I are heading to Kansas in a week and will be gone till mid Nov.

Thanks again and keep in touch.

Found out where they wanted to be on Sunday bout 2 miles behind the blind the combine that picked the field they were in must have left more on the ground than the one we had around us o well didn't get after em tho just saw em.
On sat we should have gone to the other spot cause I drove by it bout 12:45 and there was 100 + birds in the trees go figure.

Haha...that how it goes most of the time.  The crows must be like women...just when you think you have the figured out, they throw a curve ball at you.  haha.

Keep the crow reports coming.
