What calls to rile up crows
Permalink

I have alot of crows in my area, but no way of killing them.  that said, I would like to try calling and see what works.  I am looking at getting a cass creek bighorn and using it and an ipod to start off.  What calls work for you, or what sequence, works to get crows to come close? I would say these crows have probably never been called before.

I will try to find the site with all the animal sounds and see what I can do. Wonder what a murder of crows around my apartment complex would do to the neighbors.

If you can find crow come here call and or crow gathering they will rally the birds also. But Shanedog is right they cannot resist crow distress. Also get a decent hand call to add to your calling with the e-caller running and hand call at same time is deadly.biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Get yourself a hand call if you are just gonna be messin with them... that way the neighbors wont freak... If they are inner city crows you could make just about any caw sound and they will come over to investigate.

I have shot them with a pellet gun from inside my house.. that way no one sees a person with a gun and no one hears the shot... just dont make a pile of crows in someones parking space. LOL

I can't shoot here, so it would just be calling. Now that I think about it, I may just open the back door and turn up the stereo volume

Dust,, You said you cant shoot??? For cryin out loud son go buy you a red rider or somthin, Surely you can get a bb gun or pellets or even a high dollar wrist rocket to peel em out withno Them town crows are dumber than a Dixie chicksmile You will regret it when you git em all riled up and they are screamin at ya and you cant smack em!!! I don't have any tolerance for a screamin crow, no tolerance,, 10 yards or 70 they get em a gun club load thru a jellyhead everytimebiggrin

No weapons allowed for non-Japanese, and most Japanese don't have them either.

I read the Japanese history of it, and hope that Obaka as my students call him don't take us any further down that road.

Take a read here. Can't put claims to it's validity, but most of what I know about the stuff here seems to match.

Stick to the first post, and leave the rest with the close button

I have a FoxPro with 10 different crow sounds on it. In my opinion, all but 3 of the sounds are worthless.

The 3 that work for me are;

YOUNG CROW- the BEST
WOUNDED CROW
CROW IN DISTRESS

In that order. That young crow worked great all summer and even now at 15 degrees in December.

I agree with main hunt I have 12 crow calls on mine and I use 3. they are all from the fox pro sound list. Crows, Dying crow and crow fight. My favorite call of all time is come here crow. I use a tape player 512 that I bought from Jessie. I would love to have come here crow on my CS-24 it would help a bunch. I am hunting a group of about 20 thousand birds now in thier feeding area and have edducated the bigger part of them, I need new sounds. They are not responding at all.

I know who you are,,,you're the same dumb pilgrim I been hearin for 20 days and smellin for 3!!! you're molestin my hunt!!!

I've tried it several times but these Maine crows just sit out there at about 400 yds and watch. Then when I switch to one of the 3 good ones, they come in.

Kev, What call maker is the wounded crow call from? Foxpro doesn't have that call available. I have the dying crow that works when nothing else is responding in a gathering area that is.
