The biggest hunt of my life

I don't have pics from this day.  It was about 7 years ago with my uncle.

Remember this..and try it if you can get the set up.

My uncle and I placed a full body mount of a red fox in the plowed dirt field.  We laid a dead crow we shot on the ground...under the mouth of the fox.  And we laid 4 crow decoys on their sides around the fox.

We played crow death cry on our Johnny.

It was the craziest thing I have ever seen.  Crows were dive bombing the fox and Grrr'ing all the way... We were dropping crows one after another.  After about 25 rounds we had 12 birds on the ground.

Keep the red fox idea in mind if you want to try something new.  That fox brought me the best hunt of my life!

i know a little bit what ur talking about. back in sept. me & my cousin set up for coyotes with a johnny stewart at daybreak in a cut hayfield. we used a rabbit wobbler decoy thing with rat distress sounds & within 10 min, crows were frenzying on us. it was crazy & this particular day we had .22's so no kills. lol

I'm a Newbie on here and glad to be on board.

I have lots to learn and some stories to share.

I can tell you this.....that red fox lit up my world that morning.  It was like they came in happy for dinner when they saw the fox...and when the fox had a dead crow near its mouth it turned into chaos from the tree tops with low hovering and dive bombing.

Their annoying smart attitudes were gone...they were furious....they were as dumb as a buck in rut on opening day of gun season.  Not a care in the world...hovering 4 feet from the fox..screaming and grrr'ing.....as I emptied my 12 gauge.
