Where can we hunt crows in JULY?

Charles and I have been traveling to Texas and Florida the last 5-6 years to bowhunt wild hogs. We do these hunts in July or August because we are both school teachers.

This year we would like to hunt crows instead, make a nice trip out of it.

Can any of you give us an idea as to where we could hunt?

Thanks, Kev

Hi Kev,

You can hunt them in July in Texas, BUT wearing head to toe camo in 100+ degree weather isn't very fun.  The voice of experience is talking here!

Crow hunting in South Carolina is from Nov. 1 - March 1, but open anytime for crop deprivation birds. Only problem is that in the summer, not too many crops are raided.

Have you considered alligator hunting in Florida? Season opens August 15th and you do it at night over water...a good way to beat the heat!

I think Alabama is open year round. Might check them out. Mississippi closes in Feb.

Gadget Bob,

I hear you man. We were in Mason, Texas over 4th of July a year ago. We were hunting hogs over the deer protein feeders. HOT! Wow, it gets into the 90's up here, but it was 106 down there and stayed in the 80's at night when we were hunting.

BUt we had fun. A great time.

Alabama. Open season for crow all year round. But you are limited to 124 days; it's just that you get to pick which 124 days you want to hunt.

Here in NC it's June 1 - Feb 28, wed, fri, and sat.

No flyways, but Skip Woody and the A-team splash 100 or more regularly here with their run n gun tactics.

But then, Skip can shoot...

Wear your speedo and body paint camo.....I'd suggest the lighter colors of paint , like dead grass, it would be cooler.............

I always thought it would be fun to apply body paint to one of those swimsuit models.

BUT, appling body paint to Gadget Bob...not so much.

Hi Kev and Doccerny,

Body paint and/or Speedo's on GB wouldn't make for good post shoot TCP photo's...  But I appreciate your thinking of my comfort.  If we could take decent numbers of crows in the summer, I would get my HVAC buddies to build an air conditioned Double Bull Blind for me.

Hi Saul,

I grew up in Indiana and that humidity is painful.  I don't envy Chip and the even more oppressive humidity in Southern Illinois.

Regards,

Gadget Bob

Yip I don't think snake proof boots and a speedo would make a very pretty pic.

Just having fun with ya, thanks for being a good sport.  Doc
