Do you think there is a big size comparison? Yes I will paint it black!
I can get these for about 12 bucks a piece from my wholesale company. My buddy and I were thinking about getting 4 or 5 and getting some black spray paint.
Your thoughts are appreciated. I'm thinking this should be just fine. The wings go up and down on this one.
1) good to go? 2) No, it will look like a pigmi crow!
I've wasted more money trying to make things to save money instead of buying it. 12 $ . Heck give it a shot. If it don't work your out 12 $. If it works pick up a couple.
id def do it too. i have about 5 hard dove decoys sprayed black & they didnt act any different. i just feel better with more decoys. theyre def smaller than plastic crow decoys by half. i believe though that the movement will make them throw caution to the wind. they will instantly feel like its a real crow frenzy. ive got a little flapping crow that we won at a predator contest (i believe it may b buster) & its the size of a dove. works very well in open fields.
I have the Dove-n-air flapping dove decoy painted black and they seem to decoy fine to it. The wings take a bunch of coats to get them to show up very black though. It stores away real easily between sets and seems to last a good long time on 3 AAA batteries.
I happen to have a few such creatures. WalMart had the Edge Dove-in-Air decoys on red tag for $15.00 so I bought a a couple. Here is one I use in the field with my set up. Simply spray painted them gloss black with Krylon Textures for plastics. The ground stake that comes with these decoys are complete junk, so, be sure to buy a section of pipe of something else to mount them on. I use some old tobacco sticks with a properly drilled hole in the top end.
Here's one of my modified Dove decoys. The wings are not that gray. The camera has amplified the actual color. But, you can use some spray adheivsive and use some black plastic trash bag to make the wntire wing glo0ss black. However, the Crows don't seem to care from my experience with these modifieds decoys. Just be sure to stock up on AAA batteries.

I have spray painted quite a few plastic crow decoys. I feel that they look the best when I have sprayed them with Flat black paint instead of gloss. Especially when you look at them from a distance like a crow does before getting within range.
