I started to hijack the layout blind thread, but decided that would be just rude. What blind builds have y'all used in open fields and how did they work. I would love to see some pics. I have several fields that have quite a few resident birds in them but there is no cover to hunt them from. All surrounding timber is TOO TALL! The birds come in way too high and just hang up. I have built a haybale blind that worked very well but it was not portable. I would like to make one that is portable. I have seen the ones that look like a pop up tent, but those don't look real enough for my taste.

i have never hunted the middle of a field but i like ur hay blind. i watched a hunting show once where they stacked several square bales like a kids fort for a deer blind. it would stay in tact but i guess u would have to b able to drive in the field though.
