less just assume we're ALL perfect shots now after doing all this homework.and less talk calls.i've got a few of these new 'plastic' calls but i aways end up going back to my good ole'- Olt no.44,wooden call.love that old thing.plus its kinda sentimental since its been in my pocket since i was a kid. BUT if you were pickin between a Gibson Short Mag. or a Jack Mincey which would it be???

Both are excellent and hand made. The Mincey has a much thinner mouth piece..which some prefer vs. the Gibson more traditional size. Both make fine sounds but I tend to think the Gibson can be tuned to make lower pitched sounds. Both are small differences...  so take the advice of SHANEDOG and get both!!

I like both of them. Also if you can find a Mallardtone crow call they are great too.

a Gibson is a great call, but I hear great things about Mincey calls also. I wouldn't trade my Gibson for 5 mallard tones only because I prefer plastic mouth piece and they don't stick for me my mallardtone sticks too often for my liking.

on the cheaper end of things a think both the Johnny St.'Slammer" & the H.S. Strut 'Hammerin" calls both sound quit good. no sticky reeds. and the new root beer brown on the hammerin call is nice
