I was going through old posts and come across one on pigeons. I hunt them on a dairy farm and around some bridges out in the country. DONT feed them to th pigs they are the same as doves, there even in the same family. Cook them like you would dove. I hunt them around trees I see them in out in the middle of fields where they circle before they land. There tougher than a crow so 7.5s or 6s are great. My hit ratio is better on pigeons for some reason.
Anyway to the recipe, easy as could be. Slice a onion up and lay them on a grill, place the breasted out skinless breast on the slice of onion. Salt and pepper the side thats up and cook till that side is done. When that side is done turn and cover with sweet baby rays BBQ and cook till bottom is done. Its not gamey tasting and is bigger than dove.
In europe the kill tons of pigeons and you can buy it in restarants, but they call it squab. I will eat pigeon but I will pass on the crows!

Pigeons fly more like puddle ducks IMO. Shot bazillions and love hunting them.
I have eaten pigeon on several occations and must say that they taste better than half the ducks guys shoot. Belgian people up here make pigeon pie which was delicious when I tried it. The french roast young pigeons which are specially raised in pens for that reason.

I have eaten pigeon and dove, very tastey.
The squab that is served in restaurants is a farm raised pigeon that is butchered when it is 1 month old.

I have seen on tv alot of restaurant owners serve wild pigeons that they go out and shoot thereself. It is getting more popular over there to eat wild game in resaurants, including rabbit and deer.
