I keep hearing very good things about the Gibson calls, but I also like the idea of getting an instructional CD with a call like the one that Bob A. has recommended on there.
I can only speak of Gibson calls and they are superb, I also have a mallard tone and it is okay. The Gibson never fails and the mallardtone seems to stick and or freeze up at the worst possible time.

bobs instructional cd is definitely worth the money. I purchased it some time ago and ripped it to my phone to be used as a cheat sheet in the event of a senior moment.
I probably shouldn't share this, but if you put your dekes out so they look like they are square dancing, these Texas crows lock up so hard you could run out and lasso them.
Also a plate of BBQ and slaw works well in your spread. You have to be careful with this trickthough, because the educated birds will spit tobacco at you when they fly over.

I bet it's Red Man Golden Blend. That's what most of our crows chew. Some of the ole timers here chew twist tobacco or days work but most of the young-uns like the milder chew. ROTFL
