JS Crow Come Here???

Does anyone know what the first 9 or 10 seconds of the JS Crow Come Here is? Is that a death/wounded crow or is it something else? It doesn't sound like their Death Cry sound.

When we use it we keep volume almost silent till that weird part is over. I don't know WTF it is but I don't turn up the volume till it goes to the normal crow sound.

I let it run through it. They will explode off a limb when it comes in.

That would be a wounded crow, and it sounds pretty damn close to a crow with a broken wing.

I think that is the death cry. I'm with you Watch'em, I don't like it, I think its out of place. I edited that part out of my Come Here file, so I just play the less agressive cawing portion. If I want the crows to hear death cry, I'll choose that sound.

My ecaller has em listed like this JS come here, JS come here WOD, and JS Distress... that sound by itself is deadly as well... don't just leave it on the cutting room floor.

Sounds like you either love it or hate it.

I built a sequence last night using JS come here, JS fighting crow, and JS crow and owl.

Started with the Come Here. Then edited Come Here without the Cry in the beginning. Next was 2 runs of Fighting Crow, and the last was the Crow and Owl with the Owl removed and the Cry inserted in its place. It sounds really good and gets more aggressive as it plays. It is 30 minuets long so it has a good run time. All of these transition really nice from one to another.

WOD = With Out Distress. I too edited out that part but I still have the original on my caller.

I love Audacity. Been using it for years.

like 8f I usually start a sequence off with crow come here, then gradually get more aggressive, and finish up with distress

I can only take a minuet or two of the distress. It grates on my nerves!

yes that one does get old, but it works great

i've got a couple of sequences that i've made with audacity that have nothing but different distresses on it.

10 minutes of that will definitely test your patience!

I have found lots of good quality sounds on different site around the web but I can't figure out how to download most of them. Any Ideas?

As long as it's not streaming through flash you should be able to just right click the link or sound file, then choose "save target as" ... if it is a flash stream then you have to download a streaming audio recorder ...
