I have been looking at some of the crow hunting film clips on U Tube and am not very impressed at all, most are between dreadful to very poor in my opinion. Some of the shooting isn't bad but the camera work is awful in everything I have seen thus far.
For anyone who really likes to hunt crows and wants to see a first class production they need to buy "The Art of Crow Hunting" and "Crow Shooting" if you want to see the very best film footage ever shot in regard to crow hunting. You will see the most outstanding flyway shoots ever captured on film, bar none! In The Art of Crow Hunting dvd you will see a 551 bird shoot that was shot in roughly 3 1/2 hours on roost bound crows in the afternoon. There are some superb field hunts in prime feeding areas where you will see a 447 bird shoot and a 350 bird shoot in Crow Shooting the dvd. Crow Shooting also has some very good flyway shoots as well.
The reason for this post is to let some of the new guys know that these two dvd's are for sale at Crowmart right here at Crow Busters.
im just an observer here. lol i think there really is 2 different reasons for hunting here. bob u seem to b a little more dedicated to the crows than prolly 80% of us on here. ur reason for filming is prolly for entertainment & education on a professional level. splash prolly does his videos for fun & entertainment but not for necessarily aggresive crowhunters. i def see both views clearly. i just think yall film for very different reasons. by the way im not slamming noone. i personally love watching all hunting shows. from the professionals on tv to the home movies done in backyards. sometimes videos r made just for fun & personal enjoyment. i have made 3 just for me to watch on utube & i also take pics of every kill i make. neither r professionally done but it will preserve my memories alot better than my mind will remember them. so just remember we all have our reasons for hunting. noone should slam each other. good luck & better hunting fellas
Since you are the only objective party here (the way you see it) I think you make a very good point.
I hope that all concerned saw what I was saying as objective. I wasnt trying to take sides. I was trying to be the peace maker, as I could see it was gonna get a bit out of hand. It seemed that splash took you as an insult Bob and he responded as it was an insult. I can see both sides. I can see that he took it that way thats the reason for my first post. There is critiszum and constructive critisizum. But I dont think Bob ment to insult Splash. A encourager Bob isnt but thats not everybodys gift. I bet he is a hell of a teacher though, kinda like a drill sargent LOL! But a great teacher Im shure. And Im shure he ment no harm by his statments. When your not face to face with some one translation is lost a bit because its hard to read the tone of someones statments through typed words vs spoken words.
Splash, When some one makes a comment about your work and it seems to have a negative tone let it roll off your back man. Who cares? 50% of the people are gonna love it and 50% are gonna hate it no matter how good it is or isnt. I mean rap music has made some of the biggest dumdasses in the world rich LOL. And some of the most technical music in the world recorded by the greatest players of all time gets hardly no air time and those same musicians are broke as hell! I happen to like the video and even a little of the walk to the cripple was funny because I have been there. With the camera bobbin and weevin I felt like I was runnin after that flippin crow myself. Keep recording and I'll keep watchin.
I hope you boys dont think I took sides cause I didnt. I can see both. Lets move on and hang out in crow hunting bliss. The moderator comment was ment to lighten the mood, a joke if you will. Now lets change the subject.
Bob do you ever use those cameras that mount to the rib so the viewer sees what you see when you pull the trigger? I think that would be great for teaching young shooters, as they could see the correct sight picture as they see the birds fall! I like that myself. No matter how long you do something you can learn from somebody else. Some people use sustained lead or pull away or swing through for different persentations. I use swing through always but am trying to add the others to my shooting. And the (eye cam) I think would make for some good footage. Some of the most popular videos are the duck commander. I loved them till about duckmen6. Alot of videos are good footage with horrable music, case in point, FA's sea duch hunting adventure vol. 1. The word SUX doesnt do that thing justice! The editor must be on meth. To much sponsorship, endorsment pushing and not enuff good hunting and humor. I think bull ****ting in the blind is as good as the hunting. Most good ol boys are funny as hell. Not politicaly correct at all. The way i like it. Ha Ha. Gonna get one of you videos and see if they are light years ahead of the rest. Im not to critical so Im also not to hard to please as long as the video isnt what I call chocolate covered dog ****. Like the one I mentioned above, bad music, endorsment ridden, elitest ( hunting with 10.000 dollar o/u in a suit and tie british nonsence) crap.
Best wishes for my flyin gangster bustin brothers. Over and out.

I enjoy watching hunting videos on Youtube regardless of the quality of the camera work. I understand they are home movies rather than professional productions. It can be fun interesting to watch how others do it (and sometimes do it wrong). It's always nice to see the scenery from other parts of the country too. I hope the comments about aweful camera work doesn't discourage folks from putting up their home movies of their hunting adventures on Youtube.

I too really enjoy the homemade videos for what they are. They are fun to watch and I also enjoy the country side you get to see in them.

Everyone has to start somewhere and the longer you film the better you get.
NH brought up a good point about seeing the differen't regions of the country on film where crow hunting is done.
I'm not trying to discourage anyone from making home movies, on the contrary, I'm pushing them to do better! If thats there best then thats there best.
In "Crow Shooting" my wife Gail shot the first hunt in that dvd and all it was intended to be was a home movie, but the content was so good (birds decoying well to the setup) that we made it part of the production. Gail also shot the wheat field hunt where over 300 get shot in just a few hours time. I had problems that morning with trying to keep my hat on my head as you will see in the dvd. While every second of film footage is not crystal clear, most of it is, you are not going to get the same quality as you would in a controled envirenment like on a movie set inside. The footage that Fred Patterson shot on the 447 bird hunt was very good action video! You feel as if you are right there! Some incredible action shots were filmed that day.

I think there must be something wrong with the sites attitude, or maybe one of the moderators has short circuited....

I just got done watching three young guys (on U Tube) shooting crows in the snow in Wisconsin. The camera work was better than a lot of the crow hunting flicks on U Tube. They had a white sheet as a screen so the crows couldn't see them as well. I enjoyed looking at the country, however all those trees got me scared a little, I'm not used to seeing so much timber in one spot.

Bob if that timber scares you, you would crap your pants if you saw where I hunt. Its like hunting ducks in flooded timber but its a thicket like grouse woods and the trees are tall. The pine trees died from a blite a few years ago and they fell over and the holes in the woods have grown full of under brush. The trees around the openings are usually pretty tall but thats were the crows work better so thats where I hunt. Told ya the wisconsin video was cool.

yeah my favorite part of that video is at 2:22 when the guy far right shoots to the left putting his buddy's right ear about 2 feet from the blast of the shotgun. I bet he rung that guys bell.

I noticed that too. I hate to say it but I've rung some ears in my day too. But have had mine rung as well. One day I knocked a wood duck down at about 15 yards and my buddy yells GET'EM AGAIN, so I did and he was to my left and I was far right in the boat blind. I have never seen anyone flinch lick that before. I laghed my a$$ off. He looked at me like like I hope you die and go to hell. I said you told me to get'em again, I bet next time you'll get him yourself wont cha. LOL He's done it to me before too but never like that. I still laugh when I think of it. This guy is rather anamated and he does lots of funny schit, like the time a nat flew up his nose (Im laughin my ass off right now) He snorted and blew and shook his head for 5 minuites!

I think anyone that has been in a boat blind has either rung or been rung... I was in a boat where the center guy layed down in the bottom of the boat and fell asleep... some widgeon snuck into the decoys, so I said take em... BOOOM we both emptied our guns... the sleeping guy came up with his hands over his ears and he was wiggling his head, cussing at us (we almost made him crap his pants).... and he said the hull magnified the sound and he was def LOL... (of course he regained his hearing after a bit).
