Went for and hour and a half before work this morn and killed 8 with 15 shells. The crows have left the area where I was hunting this morning also. Saw several large groups of fish crows but all but a very small handful of the American crows are gone from this area also. That is two areas 12 miles apart that the crows are not there. I will try another area near some cattle farms in the morn.
Anyway, the new thing. The couple of crows I was able to get to come into the caller were very shy. My Buster II is dead so there was no motion in the spread. A large group of fish crows came in and I was able to sky-bust 2. I found one of them and tied a length of 25 lbs test line to it's head and tossed it over a limb. I tied the other end to a limb behind me. The crow was hanging about 20 yards from me and 20' off the ground. All other decoys were on the ground. When a crow would approach, I would tug on the string. The crow would make a bee line for the bird in the tree. I even had one slip in and land in a tree 100 yards from me. I tugged on the line and it leaped off the limb and headed straight to me. Skillet shot. I will use this again with call shy birds as they responded well to it.
