Mojo type decoys VS flappers
Permalink

I recently purchased a mojo wounded woodpecker decoy and used it last week.  I had a few crows come in but was wondering if the flapper type is more effective.  It seems the flappers wear out much sooner than the spinner does.  Both "Busters" died after only a year of use.

Spinners work for pigeons, not crows.Put switches with 30 feet of wire on your Busters, that will help them last, some of the guys on here can tell you where to get the motors for buster.

I agree with the above.  Never had much luck on crows with a spinner.

I have a Buster II for sale.  Good shape, $20 plus shipping from MN

you can get inline 12V and 6V remote toggles on the internet... Bassproshops and Cabelas both sell remote on off switches for feeders... they look like car alarm key chain remotes.

3D flapper from Ureaduck, 3 years old and still running strong. Jon hates it but it works.

Shane,

Are you saying to have the switch in the blind so you can turn it on when the crows are coming in?

Hi Kevin
Yes,just splice in a piece of two conductor wire about 20 or 30 foot, then solder the switch on at the far end,I have the switch sticking through the blind and wrapped around a stick. Birds start coming in,I flip the switch to turn Buster on,birds leave turn it off.smile

Nice idea. Not only saves the decoy, but the batteries too.
