I've been lurking around this site for some time now and thought I should finally join. Things are a bit slow now, as far as a lot of crows (at least for me anyways) as winter is winding down, but should start to heat up soon. I do have the luxury of a year round open season though, so I have that going for me. My main hunting is deer and turkeys but why can I not stop thinking of these blasted crows. Went out today for a bit with a few decoys and a call and heard quite a bit of cawwing so I was getting a little excited. So after a few minutes I'm scanning the sky ahead of me and 15 to 20 fly from behind without a sound and I wasn't ready for it. I have not been very succesful yet in bagging multiple birds, but I'm not going to let that discourge me, this is very addicting. I'm going to bring my 14 year old son out saturday and he can't wait to go. Enough about me, I just wanted to thank you all for a wonderful source of information and hopefully I can help out where I can.  Sorry for the long run on.

Hi RZ,

Welcome aboard...  Crow hunting is certainly a lot of fun and they are a worthy opponent capable of hoodwinking the most experienced hunter at times.

Head to toe camo along with effective calling and decoying, will get you started with a bang.  Crowbusters is a great organization offering critical information to polish your skills.

Regards,

Thanks for the kind hellos. Hey M12shooter your a bit further north then I am, how's the crow hunting in your neck of the woods this time of year. Also' does anyone out there not hunt crows during breeding/egg hatching season which I would assume is close to that time for me being in southern Ontario. Or are they so abundant that it is of no concern.

rz, the fist of the paired crow migrants are just starting to push into southern Manitoba after what has been and still is a horribly severe winter. Crows will be abundant once the snow starts to melt away in April. They are then tough to hunt as cover is sparse and birds are very wary due to being pounded at all winter in the U.S.

I hunt crows from early spring throughout the summer. During breeding/nesting season pairs are spread across creation and big kills are not possible.  Fall crows group for migration in huge numbers and good strings of kills are the norm.

Welcome from southern Michigan.  Our black rats all have PHD's here now and the winds are heavy with snow still coming down.

I hear people are partying in Florida and the weather is sunny and 80.

Not here in Michigan...Still hunting fox, coyote , rabbits & Crow..snow is still on the ground

Our season in Maine closes during the nesting season. We are open to hunt crows Aug and Sept, then again Feb and March. Every day but Sundays.
