I had about given up on crows for the moment; our big gang using a landfill has broken up and I presumed that most of the birds were paired up and mating. Took a trip to the river bottom during the afternoon and saw about 40 or so feeding in a field. Returned at daybreak yesterday and killed nine in a howling wind. Go figure! Some birds have moved to the forested mountainsides, but this group is still roosting on an island in the river and feeding in the fields.
