How TRAP SHOOTING got its name.

According to this description and photo, this is how Trap Shooting got its name. I don't know if it's 100% accurate or not. Just thought I would pass it along.

That would be the best way I could think of to train a dog.  Can you buy those things still or would you have to look for them on ebay or something?

That thing looks downright medieval...  furious

I've always wanted a pigeon coop.... but I know they wouldn't last too long before I shot them all.

Live pigeon shooting still goes on today but mostly in Latin and South America. Very competitive and big dollars are at stake.

Yeah, if pinhead come out of one of those things I would have something for him, its called a heavy load from a 12 bore!  It kinda does look like that box in the movie.  That movie scared the hell out of me when I was youngling.

Yeah, yuou can still buy something similar that not only releases the bird, but it launches it upwards so it doesn't have much choice but to fly.biggrin

I bought one two days after I got Zack(dog in my avatar) it was invaluable in his training, they work great. I used quail to train him and then moved to chuckars and pheasants.
