I saw on here the other day and also in our local paper that the Rem. Gun Club loads are on sale for $5.59ish at BPS. What is the normal price of these shells? Here you can buy Rem Nitro sporting loads for $6.27 at Wally world. Several folks seemed excited about the price so are they normaly more expensive than the Nitros or is that just a good price on the Nitros. The Nitros have been that price here all season.

Be sure to get the 8's, that way you can shoot the same crow in the air over and over again, catch and release crow shooting biggrin

or get the 7 1/2's if you need some excercise, you'll be running down lots of hoppers

no Hear it goes again lol O i thought just go shot clay birds Gun Club yawn Heck go get some turkey loads 3 1/2 2 oz no 6 and hope u have a shoulder left from all that shooting if u avrage 150 to 200 birds a day. Hope have a good pocket book for the cost He heyawn

You need to learn the 10ga 2 7/8" is not a magnum and I am firing only 1 1/4 ounce of #6.  They are a little time consuming to load as I have to cut 3.5" hulls to 2 7/8" and use some 16ga filler wad in the shot cup.  One of my 10's weighs 8 3/4 lb and the other just over 10 lb.  They kick less than my 12ga's that weight 7.5lbs shooting 1 1/8 ounce. the 10 sure does smack the crows way out though, great fun.  My 10ga reloads cost between $8 and $9 a box to reload.  The performance is worth it though and the old guns are a blast.

That's a good price for Nitros. The cheapo 4 packs come out to $5.50 a box. For 3 cents more a shot and a quality load, I go for the Nitro.

And you can't go wrong with the number on the box.

Holy Smokes!  If I could buy Nitros 7.5 or 8 for $6.27/box...I'd never reload.  I started reloading in November and can prolly reload for around $6/box (magnum 7.5 or 8 shot at 1250 fps).  Here in PA, the Nitros at Wally World are $7.97/box.

Reload some shells with magnum #6, spring for the cost of a bag a shot. They will be a world away from the Remington Shur Shot loads in $6 that you tried before.

 Nitros at the hog-mart (we call it hog mart here because there aint no skinny girls work there) in east TN they cost over 8 bucks!  Man I need to get on the ball and start reloading.  Gonna load #7s so I can hunt doves to pigeons with the same load.  Bought some sts light trap the other day, but havent shot them yet.  All they had in the gun clubs were #8s and Im shure Nhcrowshooter would be proud as I passed on the 8s in favor of 7.5s as I do like larger shot but there isnt a load worth a crap in 6s that I have found so I shoot 7.5s and hammer there a$$ with them.

A SUPER 90 and a crow in range, life is good.  A good sandwich and bag of M&Ms doesnt hurt either.

Any body got anything about using FLAME THROWERS against crows? I'm tired of this 7 1/2 vs. 8 vs.6 vs 1oz. vs 1 1/8 vs. 1 1/4 ETC. ETC.

I went to a different Walmart today to see if the price was the same or if it was just my local store. They were the same cost there.

Not sure why but they are the cheapest load of all the trap loads carried by any store around here.

Nitro 27     $6.27 (1235 fps)

Nitro sporting clays $7.27 (1300 fps)

AA Super-Handicap Heavy Target Load $7.57 (1250 fps)

AA Same as above $7.57 (1300 fps)

Fed 4 pac $22.97

Rem 4 pac $23.97

Win 4 pac $22.97

So what do the Rem Gun Clubs normally cost in your area?

Can't get GC's up here anymore but when we could I would buy them over all other brands of promo shells. The reloaded well with STS data as well.

I love to reload for my handguns and rifles, but I can't justify it for shotgun.

FOR ME, I'll spend $22-23 bucks on the Wal-Mart 4 packs. If they're under 40 yards, it'll kill 'em.

I'd say $6.27 for STS/Nitros is about middle of the road in these parts.  The normal price around here tends to be more like $8-9 BUT they almost always go on sale once a year and there is generally a rebate from the manufacturer each summer also.  The same generally holds true for the premium Gold Medals and AA's.

However, if you can avoid buying shells in small quantities at a time you might be better off.  If you buy the premium shells in quantity when on sale/rebated, I think you should pay about $5.25-$5.50 a box.   I've got a receipt sitting here from the summer---I paid $365.17 for 5 cases  which is $7.30 a box with tax but the rebate is $2 a box so the cost is actually $5.30 a box.  Generally you can only receive $100 rebate back for one household so you are limited to 50 boxes.  

And at that price I find it awful hard to beat or even match the price when reloading if you are going to utilize a full 1 1/8 oz of lead.  And since lead seems to be sitting at $34 a bag now, you have $2.40 a box into just lead.  I hate reloading anyway so I always buy these premium shells for handicap trap and long sporting clays when they go on sale.  

However, Gun Clubs are good shells too.  They are cheaper due to the "lower" quality components (particularly lead) but they are usually way more than adequate for most purposes.  I wouldn't be using them when there was money on the line but the cheap shells are probably better than the average guy can even shoot.

Dick's had Gun Club on sale for $4.99 last week. I missed it. Skeetshooter said their gun club will normally pool their dollars and purchase several pallets during the summer. Last year he was able to get 15 cases for $42 per case with shipping. I think he said they bought a total of 2000 cases. That would be a great deal. He said he would let me know if they did it again.
