Went out yesterdays for the first hunt of the season.

There is not a lot of crows yet, but we did good.

Crows were landing on the trees, just on the top of the blind! hahaha

really close shots, and a lot of fun

we were ready before sunrise

Target,

Very nice photos and a nice looking setup. The first photo with the moon between the two of you was a great shot. Photos 3,4 & 5 were good clear photos, they all looked great.

Very cool pics. That looks like a perfect place to bust a mess of black bandits.I also liked the blind setup with snow camo. What type of guns and shot size do u guys up there use?

I'm from Quebec (Canada)
We have snow on the grond until the end of April, sometimes May

We shot target load 7 1/2, all the shots were under 100 feets and often under 50
We were 3, and we all have winchester SX3. It is a really good gun!!
I have a remington 870 and a Baikal MP 153, but the SX3 is really on top of them!!!

Do you guys have a large migration of crows in the spring and fall? Are you hunting roost flyways or just setting up where you can hunt?

We have a migration in the spring and fall, but we can't say " a large migration"

We hunt feeding fields. We dont really have roost, there is not enough crows to say that there is a place where they all come from

The biggest feeding fields may have 1000 crows, but this is in fall, during the migration, so that's why we dont kill hundreds of crows every times we set-up!

I cant imagine killing 500 crows in a day!!!

Nice pics target, and a good hunt as well, good job. You mentioned this was the first hunt of the season. In Ontario we can hunt crows year round, can you not in Quebec or was this just your first time out this year. Keep up the good work.

Ted,

You ever take that rig on a main road? Will they let you? Man, I bet that gets around in snow!

You're blind that you are digging out is what my old friend Jim Lunduiist would call an "LPB" a low profile blind!

Bob, the tracked Suburban is not mine but belongs to a local fishing guide on Lake Winnipeg that I know. Thought it would be a cool pic though, more so with those that never see much snow accumulation. It is not used on roads and such as the rubber tracks would wear out quickly. Top speed is rather low as well.

Low profile blinds or "LPB's" , I like that one, but hate digging out blinds. The one in the photo is five feet deep. A white sheet stretched over the top will complete it and will be almost invisible to approaching crows. I am just waiting for all this white stuff to melt so that I can get to some real crow killing!

RZ, it is my first hunt this year, because during winter, there is no crows here, to much snow and to cold!

But in Quebec we cant hunt year long, it is closed on May and June
