I was surfing the net On ways to make a flapper bird be it crow or pigeon or dove...

And I came across a very Neat design on youtube.com that some may find odd, weird or very interesting..

It's called "ROTOR COY pigeon flapper" if you get a chance check it out...My only issue would be to find a Motor that would be able to run slowly for the head bobbing feeding action....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4KVBCUacbw&feature=player_embedded

Thanks to a1decoy for this youtube idea.

As a car battery, and a heater blower motor has three settings normally and may work for the wings flapping.. yet Bulky...also I would need my 4x4 quad just to cart such heavy items to where I hunt...

yet I am sure that a cheap cordless drill would help the weight and compact ness to have the wing flapper run from....

Have fun and Think  ( Outside The Boxes alittle )

Scottie,

The film clip of the dead pigeon in this devise was freshly killed. Once rigormortis sets in your decoy will become stiff as a board. If you plan on using this you will have to switch out the birds every couple of hours with a fresh kill.

Better not let Gadget Bob see this, it will make him horney just thinking of all the applications of this new devise! lol.

Bob A, if it works as it shows..and draws them right in, It should have plenty of fresh ones to add to the machine....

I see the tool for sale in the UK.. But I am not sure if it says 59.99 UK what the cost would be In the states.

I just can't seem to find any old wire coat hangers in the house.... he he ...And they wife keeps cuttin' down my thoughts and idea's to tinker and build stuff for bird hunting...

There is two barns with low rafters where I could gather Pigeons to have live attraction on a string.....

But that wouldn't help me with crow hunting.....

I am left with the very smart crows...Cawwwing out just outta range of the shotgun as they circle my set up....

typical....

Laughin' hard about Gadget Bob.... Maybe he has some Connects or other idea's to build one of these units...

Scottie,

$109 US, plus shipping, click on currencies for the exchange rates. Then batteries and maybe remote. It will cost you a bit. If you get it, you have to post a picture of a crow on that thing.

Mike, thats far to costly...

For a coat hanger and a few small motors...

I Think I can fabricate something from stuff in the shed or house....

As I am slowly working threw the wing motion now ..

Thanks

Hi Bob A and Scottie,

That is a little too much of a gadget even for the TCP.  Rube Goldberg would be proud, but I have to question its durability a field.

The TCP does have a new gadget to unveil late this year, after more field testing.  Stay tuned!

Regards,

I wonder if that thing is left on for hours without stopping it, maybe it would keep rigor mortis from setting in.......

Hi Bob A. & Shane,

We have not been on a "true" crow hunt yet this fall, only some small scale tune-ups. That will be changing later this fall.

With regards to raccoons, we have taken many in recent weeks but mostly night-time work in the high temperatures we have had in north Texas until this week.  I love my new Volquartsen Superlite in .22 Mag with the new Leupold VCX-R 1.25-4X scope for such night work.  And I know Matt is enjoying his new Savage .17 HMR, he won at a sporting clays event.  Ol' Lone Star Phil has been using his Ruger 22/45 pistol to great effect, too.

Regards,

Hi Shane,

That was kinda a humorous story.  T-Matt and I were the shooters that recent evening with Lone Star as our wheelman.  Matt and I were alternating shots with Matt in the front seat and me behind Phil in the back.  Well it was my turn and when a racky was spotted, Phil positioned "Earl" (his Honda CRV) for my shot.  I was wrestling with my gun and trying to see the raccoon they lighted without success when a shot right out.  Matt thought I dropped it, but I had not fired.  Ol' Slippery Lone Star had tired of my slow deliberate shooting style and unceremoniously dropped that big bandit with his Ruger 22/45!  It is declared the shot of the night.

Regards,

Hey I have the bird flapper from UK and I must say it is very deadly. Once you kill a crow and everything settles down momentairly then all you have to do is set it and pretty much forget it ha ha The crows respond to it very well since whats better than a real flapping crow decoy?? I guess a live bird that will bring others back to you lol You take the wings and punch the rod into each wing and the third rod will go through the neck of the bird. It will run off the 6 volt battery for a few hrs so it is not a big hassle. The only downfall for the product is that its pricey. I dont know what it is about the UK but they are piegon hunting son of a guns I must say. They have all kinds of decoy setups for a piegon?? But they also appear to target crows as well. I highly doubt they do the amount of damage that we do here in America while hunting crows but who knows. Im sure Bob could answer that one. Anyways figured I would post a reply since its been awhile since ive been online. Hope everyones doing good and glad hunting season is finally underway
